There have been growing accusations over the past few days which claim that Michael Jackson was a child molester. This is in light of a new documentary that has recently been released, titled "Leaving Neverland". The film goes into detail about claims made by two men who were supposedly victims of sexual abuse when they were 7 and 10 years old. As you would expect, "Leaving Neverland" has attracted a lot of criticism since it's release. People are quite divided as to whether the claims made against the singer are actually valid.
Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on all of this? Do you believe Michael Jackson was a child molester and what is your opinion of the claims made against him?
I personally don't agree with the accusations that Michael Jackson was a child molester. To me, there isn't any solid evidence which strongly points to him having conducted the acts that he has been accused of. I think this is just a sadistic attempt by the alleged victims to tarnish his name and reap the financial rewards that comes out of it. One of the alleged victims even testified on Michael Jackson's behalf during his 2005 trial, yet since his untimely death almost a decade ago, he has been speaking to the contrary. Surely that in itself should be raising questions over the validity of these accusations?
60 Minutes Australia actually had an interview with one of Jackson's former maids last week (the video of it is above). She is a strong proponent in the renewed child molestation claims against the singer. I'm not sure what anyone else thinks of her comments, but personally, I think it's very obvious that she is only in it for the money. It's easy to say that a "special few" knew about the things that went on behind the scenes, but those comments are meaningless if you don't have the evidence to back them up.
I feel like Michael Jackson was a victim of the unique characteristics/traits that he possessed. Like I said, I don't believe that he was a child molester or had any intentions of harming a child. I just think he thought of himself as being a "kid" and he enjoyed the company of kids more than adults. His father's persistence in turning him into a star and his role in The Jackson 5 essentially robbed him of having a proper childhood. I don't think it was a coincidence that "Neverland" contains rides that you would see at a carnival/theme-park.
