What do you guys think of this mini era ? It was not as powerful as the late 90s-early 2000s teen pop but it was memorable never the less.

My era!!! There are some decent songs and some really cringey ones. The style looks so gaudy now but it hasn't really aged as badly as I thought it might. I liked Hannah Montana and HSM okay at the time but hated the Jonas Brothers purely because my "enemy" was a huge fan. Had to be diff'rent.

Will probably extend the period to 2012 when stars like One Direction, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and so on were making the hits

I remember Disney channel playing that song back in 06.

It was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Hannah Montanna was hugely popular with the girls in my year group. I remember I went to my friend's 8th birthday party back in March 2008 and all she wanted to do was watch the Hannah Montanna movie for the whole evening. I also never liked the Jonas Brothers either. They were huge back in 2007.

I agree about this being a "mini era" 06-09. By the time Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato came on and Miley Cyrus entered her "Can't Be Tamed" era, it was ending. I feel Nickelodeon got into it a little too late, with shows like Victorious and BTR not starting until that was over.
Basically what happened was after releasing HSM in January 06, Disney realized musicals were "in" again after assuming for several years kids would not find them cool. The Cheetah Girls had been relatively popular for several years, but they began pushing their stars as artists in the actual pop world a lot harder.
The Jonas Brothers are kind of an interesting case, with most of their hits actually taking place before getting their own series.

I remember thinking they were not going to take off when they came out in 2006 lol If you're referring to the Jonas Brothers, that was my thought as well. It seemed like Disney was trying really hard to make them happen, especially since as a tween girl I did not find them particularly cute looks-wise. Around 2009 or so I remember them having concerts at pretty large venues. None of their songs were a particular hit outside the Radio Disney circuit which was another thing that struck me as odd for otherwise being as big as they were. The tween niche, I guess. You can be huge within it but outside be insignificant.

I've never heard of The Cheetah Girls, to be honest. I don't think they were ever well-known here. Then again, I was never an avid watcher of The Disney Channel while I was growing up, so maybe I was just out of the loop. I was familiar with the other teen-pop artists/groups that have been mentioned in this thread though.

I'm not too surprised, even as an avid watcher of the Disney Channel I still haven't seen every single DCOM from the 90's/00's. The first one came out around Christmas 03, and while it was fairly big among my then peer group of 6-10yo girls, I can see why a 4/5yo boy wouldn't have been into it. The sequels were not nearly as popular nor was there the amount of merchandise (if any). I think Raven-Symone leaving the group weakened it. You probably are however familiar with their Kim Possible intro song.

Just from doing a quick search on Google, apparently none of The Cheetah Girl's soundtracks or singles charted here in Australia, so they were probably only ever known here by people who avidly watched the channel at the time.

It's likely they just didn't push it to the extent they did here. There were concerts, clothes, books, dolls, video games. Apparently even bedding? pin.it/jdreazhhoci4xaThat's why I consider them kind of the precursor to HSM/Hannah Montana/JoBros. It was really Disney's first attempt at something like this. {Random Note}In my googling of cheetah girls merchandise, I was suggested an unrelated image of The Australia Zoo. Different cheetah girls for Aus I guess

Different cheetah girls for Aus I guess Cheetah Girls bedding? That's pretty sad, lol. I can see how they would have been popular with young girls (or kids in general) at the time though. With it having been Disney's first attempt at marketing their own pop-group, there would have initially been a bit of a novelty factor surrounding all of their releases and merchandise. I'm guessing that The Cheetah Girls would have also been heavily promoted on the Disney Channel as well, especially during ad-breaks and general promotions for the channel. Haha. That's a good thing! The cheetah cubs/girls at Australia Zoo are more interesting than anything that The Cheetah Girls group did, lol.
