I would say that most of the songs from 2015 have aged like fine wine and some even still sound very fresh and relevant to this day.
The musical gap between 2011 and 2015 seems to me a lot more noticeable than the gap between 2015 and 2019.

Which songs from 2015 do you think still sound fresh and relevant today, just out of curiosity? Yeah, I tend to agree with that actually.

Taylor Swift has released a new track, featuring Brendon Urie of Panic At The Disco.
Not a big fan personally, very formulaic.

It's as if Taylor Swift wanted to release a song which is stylistically similar to her earlier songs just so that she remains relevant. It's safe and run-of-the-mill. I actually don't think it will be as big of a hit as what her earlier songs were.

I've just finished reading through this entire thread. It's actually interesting to read back on previous posts and perceive them from a 2019 perspective.

Old Town Road by Lil Nas X is #1 on the charts in Australia. Another song with a generic beat and uninspiring, dull sounding vocals.
Why is this downbeat stuff so popular now?

I kind of like "Old Town Road (Remix)" actually. The atmospheric Nine Inch Nails sample and the gloomy banjo playing accentuate the gritty Trap beat to a degree . While the performance is just pure slice of goof I can get behind. It's a fairly weird and loveably dorky song.
The new Taylor Swift song on the other hand tries too hard to revert back in time after the onslaught of criticism her previous era got. It seems forced and the song itself reminds me too much of "Roar" and other songs of that era.

I'm pretty sure it's because the weekly countdown's last counted day is Friday, before the charts are calculated and released on Monday. Therefore "Me!" being released last Friday only saw its first day's sales being counted for this week's chart. It's a pretty dumb system if you ask me considering many artists decide to release singles on Fridays, capitalizing thus on the week-end being the most prolific for sales. It makes more sense to have the deadline on Thursday but whatever. According to Kworb.net "Me!" is right now making very high numbers in sales and streaming, so expect it to actually top the Billboard next week.

Yep its because Billboards week ends the day it was released so it was never going to do well to begin with this week.

"Me!" made it's debut on the Hot 100 this week as a result of it's first three days of radio airplay. In comparison, "Look What You Made Me Do" (the lead single off "Reputation") made it's debut through the exact same means, however it was at least able to chart at #77 in it's first week. The fact that "Me!" has only just managed to scrap into the Hot 100 will be seen as being an underwhelming result by Taylor Swift's management and the record label.

Well then again "Look What You Made Me Do"'s release was intirely based on shock value with its flashy clip and the whole feud around it only doping the attention it recieved. Adding to that the fact that the Pop genre was a complete wasteland around fall 2017 and was in dire need of something fresh. Once the hype was over though LWYMMD actually collapsed quite spectacularly in the charts and especially from radio airplay, beating a record in fastest drop. The interesting question would be if "Me!" will have a much better longevity than that or is a product of fan hype as well.

Not to mention the fact that LWYMMD was also the follow-up lead-single to Taylor Swift's hugely successful 1989, so there was a lot of anticipation for a new single in general. To be honest, I don't think that "Me!" will have much longevity at all. I feel as though Taylor Swift has now passed the "peak" of her career, so to speak.

Blink-182 dropped a new single yesterday...and it's not what you expect. The song features elements of electronica and has a pop-orientated sound. To be honest, I don't particularly like it, although I guess you have to give them credit for branching out of their style of music.

Reminds me of something from Imagine Dragons.
