Becasue the U.S. has a bad habit of keeping really mediocre songs on the chart for as long as possible lol, like "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran still being at #2 smh.

How is "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons still within the Billboard Top-20? People nowadays are very picky when it comes to choosing their "rock" songs to spin on the radio. In all honesty, I'm less bothered by Imagine Dragons' chart stubbornness – "Believer" had also been on the Hot 100 forever – than I am by "Shape of You" still being in the top 30 despite being over a year old. At least there aren't any lines as bad as, "last night you were in my room / and now my bedsheets smell like you." Seriously, the further into 2018 that song lasts on the charts, the angrier I am towards it, and I originally dismissed it as just harmless kitsch from a then-woefully overexposed album (it's now sinfully overexposed).

My homeboy Drake still got this! Turn the O2 into the O3 dawg! Yessss I love God's Plan. We need Pray For Me to go higher too. With religious anthems like God's Plan and Pray For Me people will be worshipping Canada in no time.

Indeed. Honestly, there's so much to dislike about the current state of the music industry. I know Divide was a massively successful album and all, but the singles off the album really shouldn't still be on the Top-40 charts. All it does is make it harder for an undiscovered talent to make a name for themselves in the mainstream, which is already a difficult feat as it is, considering how over-commercialised the music industry is.

You know, I really don't know why this song is doing well. It's just really generic stuff that sounds like everything else released over the past year .

Here's another song which i'm surprised is performing well on the charts: Based on quality alone, it really shouldn't be a Top-10 hit. But then again, I suppose you could say that about a lot of songs.

Long story short: there's ALOT of really low quality songs right now, although theres definetly good ones aswell.

The UK charts still haven’t moved around too much lately, although there are a couple interesting placements to report:
* “Meant to Be” is now at #33. “Say Something” also climbed to #9. More and more, country really is finding its way back into the European mainstream, even if it has to rely on pop musicians to get there for now.
* Ed Sheeran’s new single “Supermarket Flowers” has already fallen from #29 to #44, hopefully proving he’s finally not totally immortal anymore.

I do think it's kinda a shame, because outside of his cheesy and poppy songs like the garbage that is "Shape of You", I do think Ed Sheeran does have talent and did make a lot of good songs that didn't get as popular, especially on his 2011 debut album "+". "The A Team" is especially a beautiful song IMO.

Yeah, I think Ed Sheeran is one of the better musicians currently popular, but I was so disillusioned by just how much Divide swallowed up the whole music industry and especially the inexplicable success of a song with a line that goes, "Last night you were in my room / and now my bedsheets smell like you."

I would argue that the reason why he is so popular, is because he is a class above all of the other artists/groups on the charts. He deserves the success he has achieved, especially considering the fact that he was living on the streets at the beginning of his music career.
