There are a lot of things people remembered about the 2000s or just forget and try to rewrite history. Let me clue you in and fix the false narrative.
THE FACTS
- Windows Vista was not a hit, it was panned by everyone - Teen pop died before 9/11 - Pokemon lost popularity after Silver/Gold - Wrestling was still popular until 2002 - Ps3 sat on store shelves for years - There were many dance pop songs on the radio in 2008 - Facebook did not overtake Myspace in 2008 - Myspace was still popular in 2009 - Blockbusters peak 2005 - 2008 was the last year Malls were popping - 50 cent lost popularity in 2006 - BlackBerrys came out in 2006 - Macs got popular in May 2006 - Wifi didn't catch on until 2005

I thought Urban music was already popular even before teen pop disappeared. If anything, there's quite a lot of those songs from 2000 and '01 as well.

I also disagree with some of those facts you mentioned. The top 20 songs for 2008 weren't even dance-pop. They were a variety of genres, especially within the Hip-hop and R&B section. Pokemon didn't lose popularity. That was Pokemania which was not only games and the anime but also food, toys, etc. That fad was the thing that ended. I don't think anyone knew about Wifi back in 2005. If they did, they would have had either the PSP or the Nintendo DS which had wifi capabilities at the time. Otherwise, the majority had broadband internet. The PS3 may have been outrageously expensive at the time, but that didn't mean no wanted it. Besides. The console itself had advanced capacity compared to the X360 and eventually, Sony lowered the prices so people who were still interested could buy one. I believe blockbuster peaked long before 2005. I don't remember seeing much ads of the video store on TV nor seeing many locations by then. Macs were also in demand before 2006. People could have used them at home, work or school. Plus, not everyone is windows person. As for 50 Cent, he didn't lose popularity by 2006; he still had a few hit songs even after that point. BTW, you are a few years late with this topic. Other people already have covered it on another site. 00s myths

You did say that, but there was a point mentioned that Teen pop turned into Urban music. I was just saying that Urban was popular along with Teen pop. They didn't switch from one to another.

Other people already have covered it on another site. 00s myths 1) Colby Odonnis (The person who is featured on Just Dance ) was on the TOP 20 in early 2008 BEFORE Just Dance debuted, the song is a Dance Pop/r&b hybrid. Chris Brown had Forever, Lady Gaga had Just Dance, Madonna Give it to me, Lady Gaga Paparazzi, Janet Jackson Feed Back, ^ All Dance pop sounding songs in 2008
2) Pokemon did lose popularity after Silver & Gold Came out, The TV show lost even more popularity when the voices changed, but the majority of people stopped watching during Season 3/4. Don't make me pull up the ratings for Kids WB! to prove you wrong, it is also why Pokemon was never released in a theater after 4. Kids WB was already pushing Yugioh in late 2001 because they saw the writing on the wall. If ratings decreased for its episodes and demand for movies go down, and game sales decrease then yes it is losing relevance.
3) PSP a system by Sony launched in 2005 with Wifi, Most Laptops had wifi in 2005, The Xbox 360 launched in 2005 had a wifi adapter. MACBOOKS had wifi in them and Apple stores were being built into most malls in the United States.
4)Late 2004- Early 2005 was Blockbuster's peak year, due to DVDS
5) Of course they were but 2006 is when the nationwide push for Get a Mac started. Around November of that year MACs went from being a Niche product to something mainstream. The only thing Mainstream apple was in the mid 2000s was the IPOD, which was a huge success.
6) Not true, by 2006 his stardom was starting to fall off fast, only his Masscare album hits were getting played. A few months after Kanye released GRaduation he was finished & Gangsta rap died.
7) That inthe00s has the wrong facts that is why this thread is being made.

Kids WB was already pushing Yugioh in late 2001 because they saw the writing on the wall.

I never said Pokemon lasted beyond the first series. I just mentioned that it didn't really lose any popularity. Yeah, most people stopped watching the anime after Seasons 3-5, but the games were still booming with the Nintendo handhelds. I'm aware that laptops and the 360 had Wifi. It's just that no one would have had those boxes considering Broadband was still the standard during that time. If 2004-05 was Blockbusters peak, then why do most people say it's an 80s-90s video store and not 00s? Plus, you're also forgetting the other one which was Hollywood video. where does that one stand? The Massacre came out in 2005 and Graduation in 2007, so how did 50 Cent die out fast if the albums are two years apart? Are you talking about the one I linked here or the two you linked your OP?

I can list more if you wantI never said Pokemon lasted beyond the first series. I just mentioned that it didn't really lose any popularity. Yeah, most people stopped watching the anime after Seasons 3-5, but the games were still booming with the Nintendo handhelds. It did lose popularity, RATINGS went down on Kids WB! Game Sales Went down each year. Movie Ticket sales did not sell past Pokemon 3.
I'm aware that laptops and the 360 had Wifi. It's just that no one would have had those boxes considering Broadband was still the standard during that time. Plenty of my friends had Wifi routersIf 2004-05 was Blockbusters peak, then why do most people say it's an 80s-90s video store and not 00s? Plus, you're also forgetting the other one which was Hollywood video. where does that one stand? Blockbuster made the most money in 2004 and 2005 because of DVD rentals, IT made money in the 90s but it peaked money wise in 2005The Massacre came out in 2005 and Graduation in 2007, so how did 50 Cent die out fast if the albums are two years apart? He was losing steam in 2006 as was Eminem was as well, His songs were not played on the radio as much.

Otherwise, the majority had broadband internet. That's true, WiFi wasn't commonplace back in 2005 and the technology itself was still in it's infancy stages. There were actually a lot of people at the time who still had dial-up.
