Just two months before my 4th birthday. I'm sure that I would likely have a few memories from January 2003, although I would have to look at photos of me from around that time to know for sure.

What's crazy about all of this is we look at these pictures to recapture a sense of the past, but I remember living this so distinctly that it just looks normal to me and not even a hint of outdated.

I’m just saying I remember so distinctly when people in my quiet Midwestern state used to dress like this. It’s so burned into my memory that it doesn’t look dated or anything; just like normal people wearing what they wear.

Yeah that style lingered for a LONG time, long enough I think to establish a new normal or like a “baseline” in terms of casual wear.

Yeah, I can see how that would definitely be the case for you, as that's how I personally think of the Late 2000s and the 2010s. To me, 2003 does come across as being very far removed from the present day, even though I do have vivid memories of that year. However, because I was only 4 years old at the time, the changes that have occurred since then seem much more apparent to me and it does feel as though it was "another world" now.

Lots of things from that year lasted well throughout the 00s like the GBA sp, America's next top model, The Blackberry, Myspace, 50 cent, etc.

Blackberry was never popular in 2003, only on a business level with palm pilots The point I was making was that 2003 laid the foundation for the rest of the decade with the things I listed. Lots of songs that came out that year was still being played at parties years later like Lumidee Uh Oh, Pharrel Frontin, Lil John Get Low, 50 cent in day club, etc. Those songs impact can still be felt today with southern rap dominating the radio and just songs that people are now nostalgic for.

Ha California Surf look. Remember when PacSun actually sold that stuff? Quicksilver was where it was at.
Honestly a few pics are more 90's looking to me than I expected.
Only #00skids remember when the Garden was called the Fleet Center. Eww Big Dig. What a time for Boston. I used to ask my dad to carry me I hated walking through it so much.

The big dig was lame as hell, I remember in 94 when it was just getting underway and I was walking around that summer with all of the the signs and mazes, and it STAYED like that until 2006 ! Never liked the OG garden, FleetCenter and now TD Garden was way better seating wise. Do you remember that Warner Brothers store that used to be there?

Wonder why it was renamed the Garden? Since NYC had Madison Square Garden already. I always think of NY when I hear the Garden being mentioned. I guess The Garden name gave Boston a sense of prestige among event planners.

As a young child, since I hadn't been anywhere else urban really, I thought that's just how cities were. Color me shocked the first time I saw it finished with all the greenery. I don't think I ever went in there. My parents would take me to Faneuil Hall at least a few times a year, which seemed like such a happening place at the time. Pizzeria Regina and The Christmas Dove were must stops.

I heard Boston is pretty dense but I don't think it's as dense as cities in the Mid-Atlantic like Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC but still dense nonetheless.

I haven't been to be able to accurately compare, but it seems similar, just smaller. Boston proper isn't that large square mileage wise so it doesn't actually have that big of a population on its own. It remains urban feeling just outside in Cambridge, Dorchester, etc. But it's definitely dense compared to say, the Florida cities.
