This may be an interesting thread...
It can be anything, here's some stuff off the top of my head. What's yours?
* Being a kid and visiting my grandparents. They are both dead now but I miss not only them but going in their house, I found it very comforting. * My pets that have passed away. * Visiting Video City and Blockbuster and renting games or movies (as great as digital media is there is nothing that can replace going to a physical store and browsing the aisle IMO). * That feeling of being a kid on Christmas morning. * Weekday (before heading off to school) and Saturday morning game shows & cartoons. * Playing video games with school friends for hours on end and without a care in the world after school. * The 90s in general (the decades pop culture etc.) * Dine-in at local Pizza Hut & Sizzler restaurants on specials occasions like Birthday’s etc.

* Living in a pre-smartphone and pre-social media world. Personally, I think smartphones have done more harm to us than good. * Rock being a huge cultural force in the mainstream. * Physical media in general. I miss the excitement of going down to the video store and renting out a movie, or waiting for one of your favourite bands to release a new CD. * Childhood innocence. * Watching Nickelodeon as a kid. Nickelodeon was great during the Early-Mid 2000s, especially with classic shows such as The Wild Thornberrys, Jimmy Neutron and pre-movie Spongebob. I also miss the excitement of watching Nick to see whether your "clickhead" had made it onto air or not. * The overall vibe/atmosphere of 2007. It was such a great time to be 8 years old. * Going out on day trips with my Grandparents and two cousins. * The excitement of Christmas Eve and getting up early on Christmas Day.

Decent music. Less political correctness.

The fact that video stores are becoming basically irrelevant. I miss the days as a kid or teenager going to stuff like EB Games or Circuit City and staying there the whole day looking at hundreds of tapes, DVDs, video games or whatever. Those were awesome places to go hang out with your buddies too, particularly after school. Online shopping is a lot more continent, but to me, it takes a good bit of the fun out of shopping, particularly for videos.

The video rental store in my local area was right next door to a Pizza Hut and one of my favourite things as a kid was going with my Mum to rent a movie on a Friday or Saturday night and renting out something to watch after ordering dinner. It's the little things like that which I miss.

We would order a pizza, and then, while that was being made, go over to the video store and pick a video. Also, renting video games is something that I miss. My parents generally didn't buy me many games as a kid because of the cost, so a whole bunch of the games I got to play for the SNES and other consoles of that era was through renting them. I have many fond memories of my cousin coming over and us going to the video store to rent the newest games.

It's specific to my area, but I miss how everything used to be comparatively low key. We've been getting giant new overpasses, they've been building walls and fences everywhere that block the coastal views. Corporate hotels and medical buildings that block the sky are replacing old buildings. The charm is disappearing.
