Honestly it was kinda ass. The Zune, Windows Vista, Sonic 06, Spider-Man 3, Cartoon Network's live-action movie, the PS3 launch. The iPhone wouldn't even be a thing until Summer 2007, and so the next school year was when we got to use it. 2007-2008 was such an improvement honestly, and 2008-2009 in particular is easily the best school year of the late 2000s (except for Toonami shutting down of course).

3rd grade for me. 2006-2007 felt like an upgrade personally and downgrade culturally from 2005-2006. 2006-2007 is confusing because it was the first late 2000s school year numerically, but a lot of mid 2000s influences lingered. 2006-2007 felt more modern and futuristic than 2005-2006. Music started heading into the ElectroPop territory. 2005-2006 still felt old school and the last pure mid 2000s school year. 2006-2007 was the last core 2000s year. 2006-2007 could fit in with the mid 2000s or late 2000s. 2007-2008 was unquestionably late 2000s, possibly peak and quintessential late 2000s . By then, early 2000s influences were dead and the culture felt far removed from the early 2000s. Why is it that “peak late 2000’s” can’t also be “core 2000’s”? Why does the “core” 2000’s have to be the mid 2000’s? You do realize they aren’t the same thing right? Late 2007 was definitely still within the core 2000’s even if it’s late 2000’s. Is the late 2000’s not 2000’s enough or something?

Is the late 2000’s not 2000’s enough or something? I know that the core and mid 2000s are not the same thing. I see mid 2003-mid 2007 as the core 2000s, with 2003 leaning early 2000s, 2004-2006 as mid 2000s and 2007 leaning late 2000s. Late 2007-2009 are still 2000s, just not as 2000s as the core 2000s. Many core 2000s shows were over and plenty core 2000s trends were past their peak by late 2007. Earliest early 2010s influences introduced themselves in late 2007 such as Big Bang Theory, Keeping Up With The Kardashians and the first iPhone was already out. Gaming was firmly within 7th generation as the PS3 was out for over a year at that point. ElectroPop began to become more noticeable in late 2007 with Britney Spears album.
