I dunno, college has a way of disconnecting you from the world. I guess it felt pretty firmly '10s-ish, if only because summer 2009 really felt like the last gasp of the '00s.

Yeah. Early 10's obviously, which is starting to look like its own mini era. But a lot of what we are experiencing now was beginning and stuff from the 00's was looking passé even if it wasn't all gone.

I consider the period from about Mid-Late 2009 to Early 2011 as having been a hybrid cultural era of the 2000s and 2010s. Honestly, it wasn't until about March or April 2011 that I felt as though we had truly entered into a new decade.

Yeah, everyone would have different experiences and opinions in regards to this. For me at least, 2010 still seemed like it was somewhat of a continuation of the 2000s as Nickelback were still popular, flip-phones and slider-phones were more common than smartphones and digital cameras were primary used to take photos.

While I can see mid 2009 to early 2011 being a hybrid era, there was also a lot that was different from the rest of the 00's. I have a hard time lumping it backwards when the things that were going on "set up" the rest of the 10's so to speak.
As an American I feel like there's a line between the Bush and the Obama administration.
I would say it was at least through 2012 people would maybe use a point and shoot camera instead of just their smartphone, and then people will still use a DSLR. It's maybe more of a mid-late 00's thing, but I wouldn't say it's not 10's at all.

To quote Slim
It felt very 2010s. Looking back at it now it feels like yesterday even if it was 9 years ago. It was a classic 2010s year. I didn't really like 2010 very much but there were a few good moments from that year. I think the music was awful though, same as the fashion and general pop culture and the economy wasn't great either. It felt dark and depressing deep down but tried to mask itself as upbeat, which just ended up feeling fake. Everyone knew there was nothing to celebrate, people were losing their jobs and stuff so the upbeat songs felt forced, fake/artificial, and did not match with what the vibe really was in 2010.

It felt 60% 10s 40% 00s. The late part felt much closer to the 10s zeitgeist than the early part as that's when 00s influence in music seemed to just completely disappear, windows 7 started becoming the norm and electropop was everywhere.
