According to the article above, slime videos drew 25 billion views last year. Admittedly I'm not too up on kid culture anymore, but slime seems to have been hugely popular in the latter half of this decade. (At least, that's when I started hearing about it.)
Personally I tend to associate slime with more liquidy substance used by Nickelodeon on shows like "Slime Time Live" back in the 90's/early 00's. I guess I'm too old to get what you really do with it. *adjusts glasses*
