Does anyone think that a lot of people are just really more agitated or negative lately?
Like I can get why with the whole politics and tragedies that have been happening lately, and just what is considered common sense is going away (looking at you flat earthers and anti vax parents) but this isn’t all new, you can’t even say something good online without someone being a buzz kill or just plain rude. I know this isn’t new either but I feel like it’s been more common just from the vibe of a lot of countries or if you go on about any world wide website. Like an example would be is when I was talking to someone online about how “I miss the old days when we were little and things were simpler or better unlike now” (usual BS like that) and I said every decade has people that’s say that, soon kids of the 2010s will say the same thing and she said “actually no, my younger siblings are being taught of how things are bad nowadays” and I’m just like “there flipping kids! Don’t ruin their childhood by being like that, teaching to be careful in life is fine but don’t ruin there joy by making them into teens at a young age 😂”
even typing this now is making me agitated! Look I know things are tough for a lot of people, but just being moody or having a “that’s life attitude” just seems like giving up to me and we should not do that, what happened to the wide eye optimistic or the will to fight for your happiness or change you had when you we’re a kid? Even if people will bring you down you should not just accept it. Being optimistic is the new being different in a public of depression. I don’t know, I bet this will change and all, I just wanted to know I guess if I’m the only one feeling like this lately?
/rant 😂

Hey, it's nice to hear from you again! I agree and it's manifesting itself in all aspects of our day to day lives. I've got to be honest, I have never been much of an optimist, but even I've gotten to a point where I think this obsession of cotton-wooling our past and regressing back to past social values is getting beyond ridiculous. People need to realise that we're never going to relive the past. Instead of rebooting or reviving things that brought us joy when we were younger, we should all be making a conscious effort to improve what we've got now, in the present time. What will it take to get people to realise this? It seems like as every year passes, we're regressing more and more as a society. There's no optimism for the future anymore. No one is willing to go to leaps and bounds to match the ideals that each of us have for a "perfect" world. Instead, we just bitch about every little thing on social media and you get SJWs who advocate for "pressing" issues such as changing the word "woman" to "womyn". The sad thing is, this mindset affects the littlest of things as well. I mean, kids supposedly can't use monkey bars anymore because they're going to "break their neck" if they fall, or they can't ride their bike without a parent by their side as a sexual predator will try to kidnap them. Everything is sadistic.

I feel like the negativity is especially common on Twitter because it’s gotten so political and everyone’s a lot more aware of what’s going on in the world. It makes the world seem like a much more negative place than in the past, when in reality it’s really just that the negativity is more easier to see now cause of the Internet.

It's definitely trending. Take a culture that now almost expects tragedies, give the people platforms to publicly vent on, and bam it's cool to go on about how awful everything is. To a degree I don't blame people and I'm guilty of it myself. But I do think many have gotten to the point where they flat out look for things to complain about, which is especially much when it doesn't even affect their life. When everything is bad, I do get feeling really nihilistic, like there's no point of anything because it all sucks, which isn't a good place to be.
That said, there's also been this counter "positivity" movement going on for a while which can also get insufferable.

Everything is sadistic. Hi! Thanks! I figured I’d catch up and talk about this too, I would to personality cafe to but I have no idea where to put it on there lol Right? People are afraid to make new things and this decade was just reboot after reboot and it sucks people around our age and younger are growing up with this kind of mindset for no hope and to relive the good times we didn’t experience which is infuriatin for us. I feel like the negativity is especially common on Twitter because it’s gotten so political and everyone’s a lot more aware of what’s going on in the world. It makes the world seem like a much more negative place than in the past, when in reality it’s really just that the negativity is more easier to see now cause of the Internet. That’s basically why I don’t use Twitter, I actually got rid of Facebook because it’s the same over there, of course YouTube comments are about the same as well. It's definitely trending. I hear a saying about how our generation just wants to die, like a lot of people love to make jokes about being depressed and wanting to end it but really if you think about it, it’s pretty sad that that’s a thing going on for people who are young. Makes me wonder how that will play when we get more older. Im Hoping for some hope in the future. Alos yeah to much balance for serious things can be annoying, at least let their be balance.

Makes me wonder how that will play when we get more older. Im Hoping for some hope in the future. Alos yeah to much balance for serious things can be annoying, at least let their be balance. I think about this as well, with all of the jokes and the memes. Admittedly I often see them and laugh along. I mean, it is "relatable" and it is somehow comforting that others can relate. Before this became a popular thing, I used to feel pretty alone with my darker thoughts and my instances of dysfunction. With it seeming like something to hide, that definitely wasn't helping and was leading to shame. But I'm not sure we should be celebrating it either? When I post this type of content, I try to acknowledge that it's messed up and I need to work on the issue, along with my acceptance of it and enjoyment of the self-deprecating humor. We need to make sure it's directed in a healthy way, and not making it seem like it's standard or even desirable to be depressed and whatnot. I worry that young teens are probably most impressionable in this area. It will be fascinating to see how this all plays out in the coming decades. The part of me that is optimistic hopes that our generation is dealing with our issues while young, rather becoming miserable in middle age like so many do. Instead of continuing to pass on dysfunction to another generation, maybe we are learning to stop the cycle and diminish the suffering. But I mean, we'll see. It could go in a hedonistic direction, in a relentless sad sack direction; hopefully the focus can shift more towards finding personal happiness than just wallowing. We may just need to truly eliminate all the stigmas first. Another thought is that people haven't had as much access to bad news and information in past times. I'm wondering if the constant stream is getting to people.
