I believe that the line was busy in the last hours last night, it probably got the most calls in years.

I’m really surprised you and telemelbs haven’t actually rang and listened to it at least once prior before this. Shocking revelation!  Hey I did 6 months ago when I had first heard of it I believe that the line was busy in the last hours last night, it probably got the most calls in years. I think I phoned the number about 5 times until I got through!

I think I phoned the number about 5 times until I got through! Poor George, everybody ringing at the same time probably gave the old fart a heart attack. No wonder why he decided to take an early-mark and supposedly went off the line an hour before midnight.

Hey I did 6 months ago when I had first heard of it Haha, I meant before April this year, of course. I remember my dad (pretty sure it was anyways) taught me how to do it for the first time when I was younger. It was a riveting experience at the time (I always thought it was a kinda creepy voice at first!). I believe that the line was busy in the last hours last night, it probably got the most calls in years. I think I phoned the number about 5 times until I got through! Geez, ol’ George must’ve been wondering why all the sudden attention before realising he had being put out to pasture! 😂

Don't think I ever bothered to ring 1194 (or even 1196 for the weather) before it was switched off last night, even though I'd been vaguely aware of its existence for years. Oh well, I'm sure there are people who've recorded some of it!

However, at around 11.30pm the service had already been cut. Look at all those clocks!

To be honest, I only became aware of the 1196 weather service for the first time on Monday night. Now i'm curious to know what it was actually like. Ah okay, I thought the service had been cut around 11pm. Interesting to hear that it hadn't! The person who uploaded that video really went to a lot of effort to record George's last few minutes. Were all those clocks really necessary?

To be honest, I only became aware of the 1196 weather service for the first time on Monday night. Now i'm curious to know what it was actually like. Oh darn I didn't know about that either!
