My biggest LOL is at that old style Poland Springs bottle.
That mall food court probably looked really dated at the time.

Those guys sitting on that truck bed feels so real.
Another random observation: These teens still look mature to me. Idk what it is but there is something to be said for people looking younger.

It really does right? Like you could just walk in there and be like hey! As if time was actually 2001. Maybe it could be the foods we were eating then were different that made the age look younger or older.

Some of these photos look like they could have come out later and is the first image with the big shades really from 2001? I don't think those were common for another five years at that time.

The first image along with all of them are indeed from April 2001, Big sunglasses started getting popular around late 2000 into 2001, it depends where you were living at the time. Robbie William's Rock DJ which started getting put in rotation in 2000 is where the trend started popping off in a niche sense mainstream wise with the standard colored lens look just oversized. By late 2002 the trend gained momentum with darker casing until The Jackie O look became the Standard look by 2005 (when everyone had them)

That sounds about right since again, the colored shades were worn by most people during the first half of the 00s.

Yupp pretty much, you really did not see the Jackie O sunglasses get HUGEEE until the mid 2000s with like Angelina and Nicole Ritchie. Until then it was Niche thing that evolved from a previous trend.

I know I had some big-ish sunglasses around then, but the girl at the top was definitely ahead. Those rose-tinted ones were quite popular. I don’t think the huge frames look ever really died even if it’s not trendy anymore. Smaller frames are coming back but most people seem to go for a medium size now.

Farewell Y2K era? April 2001 still seems very Y2K, the clothes are still colorful and metallic, Spy Kids was popular during the time, and heck, that movie had a very Y2K vibe to it, and the songs shown on the April Hot 100 charts like Angel, Survivor, All for you, and get over yourself sound very Y2K... Maybe May 2001 fits the term more, May 2001 is when things come to an ease, but even then, there were still some Y2K elements

Maybe May 2001 fits the term more, May 2001 is when things come to an ease, but even then, there were still some Y2K elements As someone who was in middle school during this time I can tell you the y2k era was making its farewell. Clothes can still have an after glow (for example 2000s clothes still being worn in 2009 and 2010, but it does not mean it has the same vibe as other years ) The songs that were charting on the radio in April 2001 were not really y2k sounding. May 2001 DEF we can all say the y2k era was over, but like I said as someone who was there an alive I noticed the decrease of teen pop on the radio, not to mention the Attitude era for WWF was over as well as WCW. Sega was no longer a console company, and their system Dreamcast was nothing but an y2k aesthetic system. Here are the top songs that were in rotation in April 2001 - Janet Jackson all for you - Butterfly by Crazytown - LifeHouse hanging by a moment - Nelly - Ride with me - City high - what would you do? Aside from Eden's crush, and Dirty Pop which premiered in July that radio did not have that many teen pop hits on in April 2001. April 2001 is the farewell as I say. Spy Kids was filmed in 2000 so its going to have the vibe of the year it was filmed in. That goes for most movies that came out in 2001, they were most likely filmed the previous year setting a false vibe of that year it came out in. I hate sounding like that person that is like "you had to be there to feel it" but in this case it def does help lol There was also a mini recession that was bubbling and it made things go by very slow.

I agree. Around spring 2001, the culture is starting to feel more 2000s.

What about the song Play by Jlo, that was popular in around May 2001, does it sound more Y2K or Early 2000s to you? The music video is very Y2K though lol
