I was reading the "Long hair vs Short hair" thread a little earlier and something that was briefly touched upon in the thread was women who sport short hair. It wasn't really covered in a lot of detail, so I thought it would be interesting if we discussed it more as a separate topic.
Do you like short hair on women? To the female members of our forum, have you ever had your hair cut short?
I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this, but I've got to be honest, I don't find short hair on women to look particularly attractive. I guess it could look okay depending on the style of cut, but I generally think longer hair looks better.

I don't have authority on the subject but 1930s and 1950s curls look beautiful to me.

Depends how short. Some girls go to the extreme!

I'm assuming you mean a pixie cut/shorter than chin length? Depends on the person I guess. Usually a few factors are going to come into play regarding whether I think it looks good, like hair texture, face shape/skull size, personality/personal style, etc. The women whom I have found short hair good looking on typically have smaller heads or dainty features which a lot of hair can start to overtake, like Halle Berry. Sometimes it's the opposite and because they have a lot going on otherwise, are able to pull it off, like Amber Rose. But on average, most aren't going to fall into this category, and more often than not, I do prefer longer hair. It's not that different from how I like long hair on guys, but I will freely admit that it doesn't suit everybody.
I've had long hair by most people's definition since I was four and do not foresee that changing. I kinda have a "thing" for hair and I love braiding and playing with it. But not everybody does and that's okay. I know some women find it empowering to have short hair, whether it just be out of convenience or fighting norms that dictate they appear feminine. Personally I grew up around people, like my grandmother who prefers short hair, complaining about my crazy hair, and it made me feeling rebellious for letting it go long and wild. So it comes down to perception, I guess. I think people generally look best with a hairstyle they love and feel comfortable in and works with what they have.

I spent most of my life sporting short hair on the orders of my bloody mother. Then I finally told her what she could do with it! I think I look a right merchant banker with short hair.

That generation has got a serious problem with long hair. Maybe because it was "old fashioned" when they were young? In any case, it can be to a degree where it's bizarre.

There was nobody with more bizarre ideas than my mother! She was born in 1935.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of this style of cut, like the one sported by the woman in this picture: "Short hair" is a pretty broad category though, so really, anything above shoulder length would classify as being "short".

Okay, yeah that's honestly a pretty severe look that not a lot of women pull off imo. But if they like it, whatever. Pretty sure that's Kristen Stewart, here's her with a "bob" for comparison: Even though that's technically still short, it's long enough to frame her face in a way that mimics longer hair. It's the length that most start considering fairly long on a guy I think.

Long hair on women is over represented. I prefer chin length or neck on girls because its more cute. It does depend on face shape tho, why they seem so mythical.
