I already said I don't have a problem with transgender people using the bathroom of their identity lol. And it's true that most 3-year-old kids won't know their transgender. Do you really think someone that age is gonna know they have dysphoria if they can't even do 2+2 yet? Also there's nothing wrong with traditional gender roles if the children and parents don't mind it. We associate pink with girls and blue with boys because that's just how it's been for a long time. umm but u said ppl under the age of 10 are too young to know their trans...so why is it not the same with being cis? You do realize that being cis is the default right? We were literally all born being cis. So we're just going to assume you're cis until proven otherwise. That's just the way it is. I really don't think very young kids are old enough to know if they truly have dysphoria because kids go through so many things and it's hard to tell if it's just a phase or legit actual dysphoria. And I'm talking about like 3-5 year olds.

You can give LGBTQ members the acceptance and attention they deserve without putting them up on a pedestal because of their sexuality though. I don't think pride parades are "special treatment" because I think that falls under the umbrella of acceptance. That's about being proud of who you are. I'm talking about treating LGBTQ members better than non-LGBTQ members just because of their sexuality and thinking they're better just because of who they're attracted to. That's what I meant. That's the opposite of equality. And it goes both ways tbh. I do agree with the jist of what you're saying, but where do you draw the line between what is considered "acceptance" and what is considered "bias"? LGBTG equality has arguably never been better and the fact that people are so openly talking about it should be embraced. People who treat LGBTQ members than non-LGBTQ members still comes under the mindset of acceptance, whichever way you look at it.

I already said, there's a difference between accepting LGBTQ people as humans and treating them better than non-LGBTQ people solely because of their sexuality. Openly talking about LGBT isn't "treating them better". LGBT people receiving the same rights as non-LGBT people isn't "treating them better". Treating LGBT people the same as others and giving them the same rights is real acceptance and equality.

Aaaaand that's where you miss it. There is absolutely nothing empirically or scientifically to establish that CIS is actually a default, rather than a random choice among several options. If you're saying CIS is normal, that's really barely different than saying "white" is normal/default and POCs aren't normal until proven otherwise.

Trans people are such a tiny tiny minority, so why is it bad to presume someone is cis until they say they're trans? Also, you can't really compare this to race, because you have a way better chance of meeting a non-white person than a trans person.

Say for instance, you live in a predominantly black city & you hear somebody talk about a neighbor that recently moved in. Your first instinct is to assume that neighbor is black because the black population makes up the majority of your neighborhood. This applies to other places where one race predominantly lives & the others are rarer/minorities.

I live in a very diverse area and when I hear someone talking about a neighbor I don't really presume their race because there are so many other races and we don't really have much of a predominate race over here. If I lived in somewhere like Maine where white people are the vast majority, I would assume they're white just because white people make up the majority of the population. That's why I don't like comparing this to race lol. White people aren't the majority everywhere, but cis people are. That's just how things are.

It’s not about presuming someone is trans vs. CIS at first blush, but rather treating CIS as “normal,” and by extension anyone not in that umbrella as abnormal. Abnormalizing people that way is a step towards discriminating against them and possibly going so far as physical persecution.

People like to point out things like percentages too note how small the LGBT community... i’ve heard things like “i don’t know why we even care if they’re less than 1%”. But in reality all those surveys/studies that try to get the percentage of LGBT people will be inaccurate from the jump. The vast majority of LGBT never get to come out in the first place due to society,, and identity is a lot more fluid for some people... Gen Z is definitely a step ahead of previous generations but i think there’s still a lot of work to be done

Abnormalizing people that way is a step towards discriminating against them and possibly going so far as physical persecution. Just because we treat cis as "normal" (which it is) doesn't always mean we don't treat trans as normal too. You can do both at the same time. I was just trying to say that since cis genders are the vast majority and gender dysphoria is rather rare, people will just assume others are cisgender by default and that's just how parents raise their kids until there is evidence of a serious gender dysphoria condition. When I said "everyone is born cis", I didn't mean as in "having gender dysphoria is a choice", I technically meant that we're given the gender identity that matches our biological sex from birth because that's just the way it is. Parents dress their kids in stereotypical girly stuff if they're a girl, and stereotypical boy stuff if they're a boy. So of course parents will assume their kid is cisgender until there are signs of gender dysphoria. But that's not always treating trans as "not normal" though. As I said before, it has to do with the fact that cis genders make up a huge percent of the population and transgenders being extremely rare.

I'm not trying to be transphobic or anything guys. I'm aware there are trans people out there. I can understand where you were coming from @loosebolt, but there's nothing wrong with assuming people are automatically cis given how small the percentage of trans people there are. But I don't think treating cis as normal automatically means that you don't think trans people are normal too. You can still treat them equally and accept both as normal human beings.

I don't concur with the idea of same-sex marriage. It conflicts with my religion. I don't agree with the community, however, I respect everybody as people.
