I feel like in my generation, it’s a lot more trendy to be LGBTQ. We seem like the generation that puts LGBTQ people up on a pedestal rather than treating them equally. There’s so many girls at my school that call themselves bisexuals, but I’ve never seen them date the same sex or even talk about a same sex crush. Some of them will even brag about their sexuality and talk trash about men. It’s hard to tell if people are even serious at this point. I can see what you are saying, but on the other hand, how can we achieve LGBTQ equality if we don't give members of the community the acceptance and attention that they deserve? It might seem like a "trendy" thing at the moment, but I honestly don't see that as being a bad thing. If anything, I think it's great that people are so openly talking about the community and are wanting to embrace it, especially when you consider how backwards LGBTQ acceptance was even just over a decade ago. I can remember kids at my primary school calling things "gay" if they didn't like something and no one at the time had an issue with that. You can give LGBTQ members the acceptance and attention they deserve without putting them up on a pedestal because of their sexuality though. I don't think pride parades are "special treatment" because I think that falls under the umbrella of acceptance. That's about being proud of who you are. I'm talking about treating LGBTQ members better than non-LGBTQ members just because of their sexuality and thinking they're better just because of who they're attracted to. That's what I meant. That's the opposite of equality. And it goes both ways tbh. The former, to be honest. I think extreme liberalism and extreme conservatism are bad. I just want a good balance of progressiveness and conservatism. Most of the democrats just seem too extreme for me.

I don’t want the 2020’s to be so liberal to the point where we have gender neutral bathrooms everywhere, late term abortions being legal, raising kids genderless and transgenderism in kids completely normalized. I really wouldn’t want a decade like that. I wouldn’t have much of a problem if Trump won again in 2020, to be honest. Do you know that having a far-right movement in power that tries to FORCE us back to the 1950s will make all the stuff you don't want happen faster? Take late-term abortions for instance. There wouldn't be such a push for that in liberal states if it wasn't for the strong push for total bans in red states. In terms of transgender issues, it was never a big deal until Christian conservatives started making it a big deal. You've probably been in the restroom with numerous trans people and have not known it. I think we can both agree that extreme liberalism and extreme conservatism are both bad. Now I have no problem with transgenders using the bathroom of their gender identity (as long as they're passing well there's no problem) but having gender neutral bathrooms everywhere would make virtually no sense, especially when you consider that trans people are a very tiny percent of the population. As for transgenderism in kids, I honestly think kids are too young to know that they're truly trans at a young age. I'd probably say 10 years old is the earliest they can say they're transgender and I'd believe them. We really shouldn't take a 3-year-old saying "I'm not a girl/boy" very seriously. And we definitely shouldn't be forcing transgenderism on kids when they don't have dysphoria in the first place. Like I said before, I think a good balance of progressiveness and conservatism is good.

This guys putting children in cages, banning trans people from the military and planning to build a wall between the us and mexico border and have them pay for it. How is he any less extreme than the democrats you don't support?

LGBT people are more accepted than ever before, interracial marriages are increasing, and more mixed-raced babies are being born. How does any of that sound like a 1950's society? Lmfao I'm sorry but y'all are way too pessimistic. "bUt tHe aBoRtIoN bAns..." Abortions aren't even banned in like the vast majority of the United States anyway. I mean, you have the extremely strict abortion bans in Alabama and the extreme late term abortion in New York. Both are just as ridiculous if you ask me. I think right now we have a balance of both extreme conservatism and extreme liberalism. That's not very ideal IMO. And I think both Trump and the majority of Democrats just contribute to that. But the reason I wouldn't mind Trump in office for four more years is because I'm a bit more conservative, and Trump is more conservative than the Democrats, so it would make sense for me to vote for him over the democrats if I had virtually no choice. But that doesn't mean I support him though.

Like I said before, I think a good balance of progressiveness and conservatism is good. It’s an anecdote but literally 90% of trans people i personally know say they’ve known they were trans at a very young age, just like gay/bi people know they aren’t straight at a young age. And absolutely nobody is forcing “transgenderism” (which is not a word btw) on anybody, you can’t transition at a prepubescent age, and you need doctors and psychiatrists to help you find out what’s right for your kid. A lot what you said are valid concerns but realistically nothing bad is going to come from having a few gender neutral bathrooms, especially if they’re single stall. In that case it makes no sense for them to be gendered in the first place. Btw “transgenders” is not a noun, it’s only used as an adjective.

But that doesn't mean I support him though. The entire idea behind the abortion bans - which are actually quite widespread among the states - is that they plan to have them challenged in state supreme courts, which will inevitably be appealed to the SCOTUS, where the hope is Kavanaugh and the like will come down with a decision in favor of Republicans and the anti-abortion crowd. Then it really will be the 1950s again. Abortions will not be "illegal," but it will be made so difficult to obtain one that it effectively might as well be illegal. Unrelatedly, it's anecdotal but I've spotted Nazi Atomwaffen Division recruitment posters in my neighborhood. The coming darkness is real, and while I'm not an extreme liberal myself, the extreme right is the only one publicly floating violence against others for no reason other than existing.

What is "a very young age" in your context? Because in my post I was talking about 3-year-olds and virtually nobody is going to take a 3-year-old saying they're trans seriously and we shouldn't until they're old enough to make their own decisions. If you're talking about someone who's 8 or 9, it would make a little more sense. You said "a few" gender-neutral bathrooms. I was talking about gender neutral bathrooms almost everywhere. I'll agree that a few gender neutral bathrooms wouldn't hurt anybody (as long as they're single stalled). As for the transgenderism thing, this isn't really transgenderism, but I'm very concerned about the amount of young kids doing Drag and being sexualized at events like pride parades. It's not healthy and there needs to be something done about it. This is the kind of stuff that I don't want to see in the next decade.

[ I’d say once kids are in elementary and have a better concept of the world, so 6-11. At 3 children are barely speaking lol. Let me correct myself, I think every bathroom that is single stall should be gender neutral and accessible for disabled people. So what does being trans have to do with kids in drag? That’s like a whole bother convo.

Just sounds like a lot of unwarranted hostility towards people who are different to me.

All I want for the politics of the 2020s is to don’t be like the divisiveness of today. I’m sick of this Left wing vs Right wing drama, especially on Twitter. I wish we’d all shut up like we did in the early 2010s.

It's not healthy for me.

I already said I don't have a problem with transgender people using the bathroom of their identity lol. And it's true that most 3-year-old kids won't know their transgender. Do you really think someone that age is gonna know they have dysphoria if they can't even do 2+2 yet? Also there's nothing wrong with traditional gender roles if the children and parents don't mind it. We associate pink with girls and blue with boys because that's just how it's been for a long time.
