Here's a map showing the most popular North American sports league by country.
Worldwide, the NBA is the most popular, followed by the NHL which is also the most popular in Canada. The NFL, which is the most popular in the US, comes in third, and the MLB comes in fourth.

I'm not surprised at the NBA's popularity. I feel like in Toronto the NBA and NHL are neck and neck in popularity these days (the rest of the country however is firmly hockey nation).

I am certain all the NFL countries are just the American expats living there

Also, if it were included, I bet WWE would come out on top in some countries, although it's not a "franchise" (or even sport for that matter but that's another discussion
