A few months ago, I re-discovered a few of my drawing books from when I was a kid. It made me feel really nostalgic and it was interesting to read back on the things I did when I was younger. I thought this would be a good idea for a thread. What are some of the things you did when you were a kid and do you still have any drawing or writing books from then? Here are some of the things I did: 2006I used to make up my own cartoon and comic strips. It's pretty nifty that I not only wrote the date that I made the drawing, but also when I started and finished it. I was only 6 years and 10 months old at the time. In case you're wondering what the "black stroke" is, I did that prior to uploading the photo, because I didn't want to reveal my name. I wrote that when I was only 7. I became really interested in astronomy at that age and I've had an interest in it since. In case you're wondering, I did get some of the information from an astronomy book I own, however everything is in my own words. I didn't copy it straight out of the book. This is from the 7th January 2006. I've always had an interest in the media. I started to make my own TV Guides when I was 6 and I continued to make them until I was 10. The drawing above is actually from a drawing book which is full of mock TV Guides! 2008I've always thought of the future and the bigger future. When I was 9, I deliberately cut things out of newspapers, so that one day I could look back on it and see what the "world of 2008" was like. Notice how Blackberry's, Playstation 2's and Motorola Phones were still being advertised. This is from the same book. A newspaper ad for the IPod Classic and Touch. I wrote down the then-current slogans of different car brands. Even though, "Bing-Lee" isn't a car brand. It's an electronics store. Unfortunately, I no longer have any of my drawing books from before 2006. They were chucked out years ago. I didn't get a chance to take any photos of my drawing books from 2007 or 2009. I may do that at a later stage.

Really interesting. I used to draw up my own mock TV guides as well whe I was younger! 😋 Pretty good drawings for a 6 year old I must say. Thanks for sharing these, it’s amazing how looking back on these things triggers so many memories. 🙂
Other things I used to do in my childhood was I had a habit of wanting to cut out all the characters and such from the old instruction booklets that came with video games (I used to own a Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1 btw) and rearrange them in scrapbooks and put my own drawing alongside of them (I think I still have these somewhere too). Not sure why I did it to be honest, but it’s not something I would ever think about doing now as I try to keep things like these in almost mint condition.😛

It's interesting to hear that you use to draw your own mock TV guides as well! If you don't mind me asking, did you use to make mock TV guides based on existing channels (e.g Seven, Nine) or did you use to make up your own channels? I used to do both. The lineup in the first post is actually based on the lineup used in the 2004-2006 Channel Nine On-Air Presentation. It's a shame how you generally don't think of how valuable something may be in the future when you're younger. That's like when I was 10, I had a limited edition toy bus based off the Sydney 2000 Olympics (featuring the four mascots on the bus), but I took it out of the packaging and chucked it in the bin. I really regret doing that, because it would be pretty valuable now. I still own the bus, but the value of it would have dropped with getting rid of the packaging. It's a shame that you cut the characters out of the video game instruction booklets, but I suppose the future value of them wouldn't have crossed your mind at the time. I owned a Playstation 1 as well. Today I found my report card from 2002 . Turns out I was a bit of a prankster at Kindergarten lol Haha. Oh well, you were only two at the time. You have an excuse.

Haha, yep used to draw guides with the proper networks like Seven and Nine (or Southern Cross and WIN). 😊 Yeah, so true re throwing out and damaging said collectables and the like from your childhood. Though I still have quite a bit of stuff from my younger days, a lot of it has also been unfortunately lost over the years as my parents have moved house a couple of times. Though I never actually owned the limited edition bus you've mention, I still have some cards with the mascots (Milly, Syd etc) on them along with the flag, paper torch and a pin map from the Sydney 2000 Games that I kept. Yeah, you don't think of things like that when your younger. Not really sure how much the instruction booklets would be worth but I doubt that much anyways to be honest. 😄 Do you still own your PS1 and whatever other consoles you had growing up?

I forgot to share this in my original post. I predicted Prime7 back in 2006, five years before the brand was introduced.
Wow, how did you predict such a thing? Haha. 😜

In first grade we had to do this project and make our own robot and give it a name. I don’t have it anymore but I remember what it looked like. It was pink and it had a mop as it’s hair lol

Probaly the most embarrassing thing is that all of you guys are posting pictures from when you guys were little, and there all really good. Then there me, who is the worst drawer (rainbow now knows btw, I sent her a photo), and my drawing would probably give you guys nightmares or a heart attack. The embarrassing part was that I was 17 when I drew it.

The images are not showing up. Hmm, that's odd. Must be a problem with 'imgbb', because as I was uploading the pictures it took a while to process and upload.
