I created an account back in 2011, but I only used it on the day I registered for the account, lol. The only reason why I created it in the first place is because some of the youngest kids in my class (I was in a composite class which had people born between 1999-2001 in it) kept on talking about it and it got me intrigued as to what Club Penguin was like. In the end, I didn't log back onto it again as I thought I was too old for it (even though I was 12 at the time).

I remember making in account an 2004 or 2005 or so, but felt too old for the game. Habbo Hotel was where it was at.

I played Club Penguin all the time in 2009/2010! Lol, when you told your school friends you would meet them at 3:45 on the Frostbite server but it was full so you had to call their landline

I'm just curious, when did Club Penguin rise and fall in popularity? I think it's interesting that some of you joined during the 2000s, because I honestly wasn't even aware of it before I was in Year 6 (which was in 2011).

I first registered for an account in 2009, where it was starting to gain most of its popularity, but only used it once or twice until more of my friends started using it in 2010. At least after 2013 many I knew didn't play (peak IMO was probably 2011). I wonder what the target age club penguin were focusing on... Don't know if I fitted into the category haha.

Maybe it's popularity varied from country to country? It's possible that it might have become popular in North America first before it started to gain ground here. I'm not sure how old you were when you created your Club Penguin account, but you probably would have been within the target age for the site. If I were to guess, I would say that Club Penguin generally targeted anyone under the age of 13 or so. It wasn't really the type of site that most teenagers or adults would enjoy going on (not unless they just wanted to troll on it), lol.

It was pretty big in 2005/2006 from what I remember, and I don't think it stopped being popular. I made an account when I was still in middle school. There was an article in the New York Times about it in October 2006 according to Wikipedia. Also according to Wikipedia it started declining in popularity in 2015 before closing in 2017.

I wanna say I made a Club Penguin account when it first was starting, but was really on it a lot in 2008. I wasn't as into it until I found out about the parties and some cheat websites for where you could get free stuff. The hoarding of "secret" stuff was probably most appealing to me lmao. A similar site I liked To do that on was Bearville. {Spoiler}Me @ 13-14: Playing children's server games, arguing on political sites, and pretending to be an adult with kids on forums. I was such a weirdo lolol.

I think I got into it in 2008 or so when it was all the kids at school would do in the computer lab. It was just after the Maplestory craze.
Then, yeah, around 2009-2010 I'd hang out in the com labs myself after school. Or go home if nobody would be in.
But it started getting kiddy a year or so after that.

Yeah but it peaked around 2008-2011, especially when Herbet blew up the PSA with popcorn in 2010 .
