In my personal life it's almost as if I'm reliving 2007, right down to the people who have the most influence in my life, the tension with my family, future plans and uncertainty about them, the city I'm contemplating moving to, etc. People have come back into my life recently that haven't been significant in my life since 2007. I also loved the music in 2007 and I love it in 2019. 2007 for me was a very hip-hop focused year and 2019 is as well. 2007 and 2019 were both years of exploring new aspects of myself and pushing my boundaries and getting out of my comfort zone. 2007 and 2019 were both years of oppression in my personal life, years where I felt stuck and stifled by external forces that I can't control, yet it isn't permanent and there is hope for the future. Despise this hope, there's a lot of uncertainty and fear of things not working out. 2007 and 2019 are both years in which I'm making hard decisions that have needed to be made for a long time, but hopefully I'm a bit wiser this time around. 2007 and 2019 are both years of severe depression and introspection for me. I've struggled with depression most of my life but 2007 and 2019 have both been exceptionally severe. Also politically and economically, 2007 comparisons abound. Right now, the economy very much reminds me of 2007 and that isn't a good thing. There's a lot of uncertainty right now economically and 2020 looks to be a horrible year for the US economy. Nancy Pelosi is Speaker after a Democratic takeover of Congress, just like 2007. 2007 was a perilous year for the war in Iraq and it looks like 2019 is going to bring war in Iran. That's just from my own perspective though. The good thing about this is I know what to do and what not to do, and I'm acting accordingly. It's good to hear that you are feeling optimistic about your future. Having gone through periods of depression myself, I know that it can be hard to find any positives when you feel down about life in general, but I think it's great that you realise that the negative factors aren't permanent and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I hope the move goes well for you.

I hope the move goes well for you. Yeah, I feel there's not much positive in my life right now but my hope is that as long as the economy lasts through the end of the year and as long as I don't experience any major health issues or don't crash my car, I should be able to make this happen. The biggest factor working against me is Donald Trump. The economy is getting ready to crash hard and we may even see civil unrest soon and if that happens before I move, I won't be able to. I don't understand why more people aren't rioting in the streets. It's bad right now.

I absolutely love this year. I would go as far to say that this year is rivaling 2013 as my favorite 2010s years. Personally this year has also been pretty great. Turning 18 and finishing highschool is immensely satisfying.

Anyone willing to bet that "Old Town Road" will go down as the best-selling single of 2019? This song has been hovering around the top of the charts for almost two months now and it doesn't seem to be letting up. If anything, I think the release of Lil Nas X's debut EP will give it even more of a boost.

This year is actually alright for me for me in terms of personal life. Not better than 2018 but definitely better than 2017 .

With the sole exception of Stranger Things, TV has been pretty meh. I don't hate the GoT final season nearly as much as the visceral, mouth-foaming hatred it seems to receive from everyone else, but I was disappointed.
Also, the synthy music coming out this year has really left me wanting for something that sounds earthier again, like the hipsters used to do. I mean, what's so terrible about using natural, organic instruments?

After New Wave, Synthpop, Freestyle and New Jack Swing, there was still on major genre of the 1980s left untapped by popular acts in the last few years. And here it is: Hard Rock
It's really the year of weird collaborations.

After New Wave, Synthpop, Freestyle and New Jack Swing, there was still on major genre of the 1980s left untapped by popular acts in the last few years. And here it is: Hard Rock It's really the year of weird collaborations. Well this wasn't what I was expecting, lol. As much as I appreciate their willingness to try their hand at an entirely different genre, I think the end result overall is pretty average, to be honest. If anything, I think it's sad that a pop star, country singer and an R&B singer had to team up for rock to at least have some presence in the mainstream. It's really a sign of how dead in the water rock is as a genre at the moment. To me, the song itself is just a mash-up of all the cheesy cliches in rock music and that's why I personally can't get into it. There's close-up shots of people doing the rock hand sign, a generically basic guitar riff and overly simplistic lyrics. It doesn't have any substance to it.

If I were to say that 2019 was better than 2020, that'd be like saying Joesph Stalin was better than Adolf Hitler.

Not a fan of 2019 second to worst year of the 2010s besides 2015 in my opinion
