Inspired by the recent conversation in this thread. Panic at the Disco!, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy were arguably the three "biggest" bands of the Mid-Late 2000s Emo/pop-punk movement, so I thought it would be interesting if we had a thread where we can compare them. Which band do you like the most and why?
Personally, I think My Chemical Romance were the best band to have come out of the Emo scene. They were a genuinely decent band that unfortunately suffered from the stigma associated with the "Emo" label. They're a class above the other two bands, IMO. My favourite songs by MCR would have to be "Famous Last Words" and "Teenagers".

Out of those three it would have to be Fall Out Boy. From Under the Cork Tree and Infinity On High were phenomenal albums from cover to cover. With MCR, The Black Parade was a masterpiece but Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge wasn't as good as the FOB albums. Panic! At the Disco has to be the least underwhelming of the three. They kind of did always focus more on the 'pop' side of the pop-punk. I will say though, their recent output is far better than FOB's BTW, did you hear the rumours about MCR getting back together?

I actually haven't listened to any of those albums in full yet. I've been considering giving The Black Parade a try, because I genuinely like the singles from that album and it has received some rave reviews over the years. I agree in regards to Panic! At the Disco. I can honestly say that I have never liked any of their songs. Brendon Urie is definitely talented, but their songs have just never struck a chord with me for some reason. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" in particular is incredibly overrated, IMO. With that being said, they have done a great job at re-inventing themselves. Who would have ever thought that a highly stigmatised Emo band would resonate with a pop audience in 2019, lol. No I haven't actually! I know Gerard Way has recently released new material, but I haven't heard anything about MCR possibly getting back together. It would be interesting to know what type of music they would put out if they were to re-unite. I might be proven wrong on this, but if they were to get back together, I can't see them heading down the same route as Panic at the Disco! or Fall Out Boy. I tend to think that they would continue to stay true to their pop-punk/glam-rock influences and roots.

My Chemical Romance seems to have fared better than the other two bands when it comes to their music being reevaluated. On Rate Your Music, The Black Parade and Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge have ratings of 3.32 and 3.27 respectively, which are actually pretty decent results (they're above average). Fall Out Boy's and Panic at the Disco's albums barely score above a 3.0 and some of their albums have ratings as low as 2.18.

My Chemical Romance for me, then Fall Out Boy.
Panic! At The Disco not in consideration, have never understood the hype surrounding them personally!
