This is a thread inspired by the "i miss 2016 so much" thread. I wanted to make one for 2015 because I honestly believe not only was it amazing for pop culture, but it was even amazing in my personal life as well.
2015 was probably one of the best and funnest times to be a middle schooler. I don't think I'd trade it for anything else, to be honest. 2015 was when Vine was at its ultimate peak. Literally everyone had a vine and people were trying to come up with dumb and funny ideas to try and look "cool" (I did this too). I remember when "Deez Nuts" were really popular and everyone was shouting it randomly. I remember thinking it was annoying back then, but now I weirdly miss it for some reason lol. I miss being in 7th grade and everyone talking about FNAF like it was the coolest game ever. Now that I think about it, it was probably the Fortnite of the mid-2010's. 2015 was the last time Kik and Skype were still popular before Discord and Snapchat/Instagram DM'ing would completely take over.
The absolute best part of 2015 was the summer. Not only was this amazing and fun for pop culture with songs like the Whip Nae Nae and Classic Man, it was one of the best summers of my personal life. I went to parties, went on a vacation, and talked to friends from school and played ROBLOX with them. I talked to both my school friends and online friends on Kik and Skype, and I just remember we'd say the dumbest shit and it was just so fun.
Even late 2015 was amazing. I threw a halloween party in my basement with a few friends and I got my very first iPhone in Christmas 2015. I also got braces in late 2015, which was definitely a big deal for me. I remember starting 8th grade and being excited to almost be a high schooler.
2015 was just an amazing ass year. I know my early 2000's babies will know that 2015 was a time to be alive lol

I've started to become nostalgic for 2015 within the past six months or so, which is strange given the fact that I was personally never a fan of the pop culture at the time. I think it's mostly because my high school years are starting to become more and more distant and as I was 16 years old back in 2015, I felt as though I was right in the peak of my adolescence. 2015 (and 2014 to a lesser extent) is the definitive year of my teenage years.
The funniest thing about it is that it's the littlest of things which are making me feel reminiscent. Listening to "Cheerleader" reminds me of some of my classmates playing it constantly in my Visual Design class, "Cool For The Summer" stands out for me because I can remember hearing it on the radio a lot and actually somewhat liking it (namely due to the rock-ish chorus), "Peanut Butter Jelly" makes me think back to when I used to regularly stay up to the early hours of the morning watching a music video show. I have memories associated with the majority of the Top-40 hits that were popular in 2015.
In terms of my personal life, it really wasn't that great of a year for me. I started to get bad acne when I was 15; I had pimples all over my face, back and shoulders. Sleeping in bed felt like laying on a pile of rocks. The problem was so bad that I had to actually go to a dermatologist and take tablets daily for about six months. Thankfully, my acne cleared up by the middle of 2015 and going to bed no longer gave me pain, though I was left with a bit of scarring on my back (which I still have to this day). I also had depression for the entirety of the year as well. My self-esteem and self-confidence were incredibly low (it would get worse in 2016) and I just hated everything about myself. I was never bullied by anyone; my family, friends and classmates were all supportive of me, however there was still one person who I couldn't overcome and that was myself. I was my own worst enemy.
With that being said, there were definitely still a lot of positives as well. I went go-karting for the first time in 2015 and I really enjoyed it. It was great fun! 2015 is also memorable for me as it was the year I went to my Year 10 Formal. Even though I didn't want to go to it (as it meant having to dress up in a suit and go to a "social" event), I ended up having a decent time and i'm glad that I made the decision to go. I also have fun memories of when me and my two friends had to film a short video for a project in our Multimedia subject.

The music of 2015 is probably the best of the entire decade.

lol all of the reasons why you love 2015 are the reasons as to why I didn't really like it. The only aspects of 2015 that I miss are my personal life and Filthy Frank.

Our world wasn't a frightening dystopian hellscape then either.

Yes, now we're talking! I hold 2015 very dearly. Might be a bias because it's the year where I turned as an adult, therefore a particularly exciting time for my personal time (and it really was). But it helps that even the pop culture felt fresh and moving, as it was a great year in music as well.
I guess nostalgia is not really there yet, but definitely getting into "I miss those times" territory.

same, 2015 was very boring aside for maybe June & July. There is nothing about 2015 I can say I am a fan of.

2015 was one of the best years of my life, I really didn't realize what I had.

A few days ago, Fetty Wap was trending on Twitter and people are reminiscing of the time when he was everywhere.

It kind of scares me that 2015 is already five years ago.

It kind of scares me that 2015 is already five years ago. Honestly with the amount of stuff that has since happened (2015 was when Trump's presidency got widely dismissed as a joke), I'm not even that surprised by this to be honest. It does hurt however that age 18 for me has been half a decade ago!

It does hurt however that age 18 for me has been half a decade ago! That's true. It does seem somewhat dated from that perspective, however 2015 still very much feels like yesterday to me. I think back to things I did back then and honestly can't believe that five years have passed since I did them.
