I have memories of 2001, but I was too young to have truly experienced it. Shame really.

I have memories of 2001, but I was too young to have truly experienced it. Shame really. it was awesome minus 9/11, around this month of August it was VERY slow as I had described in other threads (USA was in a minor recession at the time) everyone was waiting to get back to school, we entered the 2001-2002 school year the last week of August and there was hardly teen pop on the radio (it became uncool) MTV was playing a few teen pop hits because the 2001 VMAS were coming up in a week and people were voting on them, other then that August was humid hot and full of excitement. The malls were packed because of back to school shopping, I remember this is right around the time I first played Playstation 2 in a bestbuy, it was a demo of the mummy returns and I was not impressed (still bought a ps2 regardless a few months later) I also Remember Dreamcast systems and games being regulated to the FAR side of the store (Sega went out of the hardware business in early 01) This is also around the time Blockbuster video started getting rid of VHS and started promoting DVD more

When 9/11 happened, it was a couple weeks off me finding out about Aaliyah dying in a plane crash. As a result, I just shrugged and thought this is just something that tends to happen. I'm sure you'll also remember it was mere months hot off the execution of Timothy McVeigh, so I had just recently learned about the Oklahoma City bombing. I ended up thinking terrorism was just a thing that happened. Funny how a confluence of events ends up normalizing other events.

I remember there was extreme paranoia in class esp the Anthrax scare that followed shortly after.

I like the photo with the guy hooking up the PS2 photo with the N64 controllers on the shelf, it really highlights the transition from 5th to 6th gen.
