How so? If anything she's by far the most core-90s out of your entire list as she was a very successful artist since the year 1990 and stayed like this for the entire 90s, and is mostly remembered for her hits like "Emotion", "Hero", "Fantasy" and "All I Want for Christmas is You". In comparison, a lot of her hits of the Y2K era were throwaway and pretty forgettable at best. Her songs released in 1997 sound more Y2K. Eh, not really. If you’re talking about her 1999 Rainbow then that’s correct but her songs from the 1997 Butterfly is just typical late 90s R&B.

What about Semi-Charmed life? That sounds very core 90s to me

I mean- I get that the song Honey has some New Jack Swing elements but it also has some Y2K Pop-R&B elements as well

Actually- yeah I kinda was wrong saying that her 1997 album sounds more Y2K, I found out that there were multiple ballads that sound very 90s on her 1997 album. However, I can pinpoint a few semi-Y2K sounding songs, like Babydoll which sounds very similar to Aaliyah's one in a million, Breakdown, which has the same flow as Are you that somebody by Aaliyah or say my name by Destiny's Child. Other than that, I'll have to agree that Mariah's '97 album sounds very 90s with the ballads.

Completely random comment: The kid in the bottom right corner is the most generic looking kid. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way, it’s just, he strikes me as so familiar. It’s weird because well, he was probably born in the early 80’s, yet I see him in “my time” so easily.

By the way John, what year would you consider the 'peak 90s'?

Aside from Princess Diana's death, I kinda wanna time travel to September 1997, it sounds so damn fun it had a vibe of energy and was upbeat, everyone in class was talking about Final Fantasy 7 and Stone Cold The teacher I had suddenly wasn't my teacher anymore 3 days after attending class (apparently she had cancer or something) and was replaced with a younger woman, it brought this like youth vibe to the year if that makes sense, like she knew everything that was going on in pop culture.

at this point I threw my SNES in the bushes and traded up for a PS1 and N64. Blockbuster at the time was having a HUGE sale in September trying to get rid of 16 bit games. It helped that September 1997 was the month this iconic game came out
