I don't know if this has been asked yet but I thought this would be interesting to ask. How exactly did you become interested in decades and years? For me it all started one day about 2 years ago. I was scrolling through YouTube and came across a video called "Top 100 Songs Since 2000" Ever since then I've gotten more into years and decades in general, and I love talking about this stuff during my free time. Let's hear your stories!

I mainly got interested by watching “are you a 2000s kid” videos when i was like 10, but i knew that I wasn’t a 2000s kid because i barely remember the 2000s at all. I never really cared about decades that much until like 2016/17.

I've always been a massive music buff, even from a young age. I received a drum kit for Christmas when I was 8 and I've also owned an electric keyboard for over 11 years (though I haven't used it in years). History has been another huge interest of mine as well, so my interest in pop culture in general pretty much developed out of my intrigue to learn more about the past. It wasn't until I was 16 that my interest in discussing pop culture really solidified though and that only came about after I tried to research what generation people born in 1999 belong to.

I always loved history, and became a bug music passionate back when I was 16 years old, and being on the internet the two irredeemably lead to this.

Around 2016 I heard Nelly Furtado "Say It Right" playing on the radio and it made me nostalgic for my childhood, did some researching etc etc...

At about 6 or 7 when I discovered I liked watching old tv shows and comparing them to my present day. Clothing, music, interiors, graphic design, and even food items were all fascinating to me in how much they could wildly change in one’s lifetime. Then by about 12 I started to really enjoy finding videos on YouTube, whether they be music videos, made for TV movies, commercials, etc. In my teens I got really interested in the advertising aspect of it, as I found it to directly respond to the psychology of those at the time. Still I can just look at vintage photos for hours and can learn a lot just through studying them.

It started around 2005 when I would always look at the year of insert movie/video game. I got into the decade stuff around spring of 2010 when I would look at youtube videos of 90s nostalgia. I first got into generations around 2013 when I saw a thread about where Gen Y starts, but it was in 2016 when I really started to get into it when I saw some of you guys debate if y'all millennial or gen z.

When I was younger I went through a phase where I desperately wanted to be a 90s kid. At the time I was also depressed and going through trouble with my family (not going to get too personal with this) So naturally I looked up 90s videos in order to escape my reality. After things improved was when I stopped longing for a time I wasn't alive for and started living in now

I remember I read a magazine about Generation Z back in like March 2017 and according to the definition I was Gen Z. And I became more interested so I looked up more about it and found a lot of results from Personality Cafe and some from inthe00s. I also remember seeing the decade kid threads and that also caught my attention. And it's weird because a lot of people have mixed feelings about birth years ending in "2" which was why I kept on searching and became even more interested.

became a b ig music passionate back when I was 16 years old What led to you becoming passionate about music? Sorry for the late response It might sound silly but it was after a karaoke night around the age of 16 that my interest in new music releases was sparked. I also discovered how therapeutic music could be as well how diverse in general it is. Therefore each year went on as a further deepening into that passion. Although I had a period of big music interest before that at the age of 11 when I got an mp3-player and followed the charts on tv. Not sure what made me stop for a few years .

Ah okay, that's interesting to hear about. Must have been a really good karaoke night for it to have left that impression on you.
