I did start lurking inthe00s in late 2010-early 2011 because I accidentally found some archived threads, but I was interested in decades before that.

In early 2018, I was told by a classmate of mine that we were Gen Z, when my Millennial history teacher born 1984 called us Millennials. I always thought we were Millennials before that. Then researching, I learned that there many sources that puts us born in 2002 as both Millennials and Gen Z, but mostly Z. I started to get interested in generations and came across websites like Personalitycafe, inthe00s, and this one, Popedia. Later in the year, I came across Reddit. I have been lurking and searching topics without an account until I started to join each of these earlier this year.

I have been mostly interested in decades and their pop culture for a couple of years now. It mostly started with InThe00s. I was curious to know about what these people where talking about when it comes to the decades and I decided to log into the website and I started to have conversation with the other topics. I realized then that the website was really millennial-based and didn't make much sense to me. I eventually got bored of it and decided to take Reddit for a chance. I still like Reddit, but I am mostly onto other topics of Reddit besides learning about the decades. I mostly come onto this website to talk about them.

Maybe she didn't think she was a Millennial and Millennials was just 2000+ to her, or something along those lines.

Facts, another reason why Gen Y should have been kept since at least then you were talking about people born from the early 80s-mid 90s.

Three factors. First one is history/social class. Second one is about me in 2018 wondering why is music bad nowadays because of mumble rap, so I kept comparing 2011 to 2018 to see how early 2010s music is way better than today's, searched up 'Early 2010s vs Late 2010s," and inthe00s came up. Third one is that my dad always loved 80s/90s music, so I got interested as well.

In 2015 when I found out about ZeldaFan20's decade chart on PersonalityCafe, that's what got me into the childhood decade topic.

I’ve been interested in it for a while, but I think it started with personality cafe. I was there for Myers Briggs and Enneagram and then I found out about this stuff.

Back to the Future was probably the biggest contributor to my interest in decade culture. It made the past seem exotic and intriguing. It also helps that I started to hate a lot of pop culture I should have been into during my adolescence, so I turned to the past instead to get my fix.

It also helps that I started to hate a lot of pop culture I should have been into during my adolescence, so I turned to the past instead to get my fix. I felt that movie along with jaws and Indiana Jones and a few others opened up door of nostalgia and getting into older decades in the late 90s and early 2000s. I was also losing interest in current pop culture and getting more interested in the past, but not fully disconnected from it. But it took a long time for 80s nostalgia to become mainstream. It wasn't always understandable or cool to be into older things at that point in time. It seems from 2008 onwards 80s/90s nostalgia became sort of mainstream.
