I wasn't sure what to name the title, and I wouldn't be able to fit it all.
Ever since being on decade and generation forums for about a couple years now, I've noticed something that I believe definitely has an affect on how much nostalgia you have for the past.
I've noticed that people who are more nostalgic for the past and don't like the 2010's are more likely to be dissatisfied with their current life. They're more likely to have bad things happen to them in the present and they usually want to go back to the past. Whereas people who are currently satisfied with their quality of life are more likely to enjoy and prefer the 2010's. This is a trend that I've noticed on both inthe00s and Popedia.
I believe personal life can affect how you view pop culture from a certain time period, but this is a trend I've noticed when it comes to say, preferring the 2000's vs. the 2010's. I always felt like those who preferred the 2000's we're more likely than those who preferred the 2010's to have a lower quality of life at the present time.

Yeah I've noticed this too. I feel for you if your current life isn't going well but don't take it out on a decade. What did it ever do to you?

You might be onto something. I love the 2010s & generally have a good quality life.

Because they're insecure. They don't want to face the harsh reality so they look back in the past to simpler times

They don't want to face the harsh reality so they look back in the past to simpler times It's funny because of late 90's babies wanna act like they're Gen Y because "i dOnT lIkE tHe MuSiC oF tOdAy" Like ok but you're still the target demographic lol. And just because you remember a certain music genre being popular when you were like five doesn't mean anything. You still weren't the target audience so it doesn't really mean anything.

Those born in the late 90s should accept the gen z label more often. Our generation is so much more than just Fortnite & iPhones.

But have no problem saying "I got my first smartphone at 13". Like ok so you did grow up with smartphones lol. Growing up doesn't just mean childhood. I just hate when people ignore their teen years like they don't exist. The vast majority of late 90's babies grew up with smartphones.

They don't have adult experience and therefore are more like 10 year olds aside from puberty.
