If you look at the charts right now, there are no EDM songs in the Top 20. EDM started with David Guettas “Sexy Chick” in late 2009. The last big EDM song was Happier by Marshmello in late 2018. I think this is the sign of the 2010s declining.

I’ve noticed this too. This might be a sign of a cultural shift (actually serious this time lol)

It’s a shame. EDM has been dominant this decade and to see it all coming to a decline is kinda sad for me seeing how I liked some of the music.

It’s a shame, EDM is definitely the decade defining genre there’s no doubt about it.

I honestly blame trap for its death That doesn't really have anything to do with it, all trends and styles die out eventually

I honestly blame trap for its death It probably has to due with the fact that EDM has been mainstream for so long and people are actually wanting a cultural shift now lol.

I think this is the sign of the 2010s declining. While it's presence on the charts can be traced as far back as 2009, it wasn't until the second-half of 2013 that EDM had really started to come into prominence. It's peak years were between 2013 and 2018.

I'm not surprised considering when I was in high school in the early 10's, many considered EDM their favorite musical genre. It's had its moment but it no longer feels fresh. And more so than perhaps with other genres, its appeal lies in feeling modern and innovative. I doubt it will go anywhere really for the fans of the music itself though.
