Has anyone else started coming across these sorts of videos? It appears youngsters who grew up during the early 2000s are starting to publish nostalgic pieces, including TV ads, segments of them playing early '00s videogames, and more. And this is in addition to what I had mentioned in an earlier thread about hit songs from that decade beginning to reappear on the radio. I must admit, as someone who was in high school during the core '00s and who considers that time to be "home" (although admittedly it wasn't a good time in my life, it's just my baseline for normal), it has been enjoyable. How will this manifest in new creative works over the intervening years? I'll be curious to hear your thoughts.

Yeah I saw that video on my recommendations for YouTube one time. I also saw these pop up as well about Early/Core Gen Zers (Early 2000s-Mid 2000s borns) who had their fair share of their childhood nostalgia back in the late 2000s/early 2010s

Minecraft also seems to be a common "only 2000s kids remember" thing, which is stupid as the game came out in 2011.
By "2000s kids" most assume that it's anyone born in the 2000s, when it's not. Those born in 2004-2009 are definitely not 2000s kids whatsoever.
Plus, now Minecraft is having a huge revival and people are really starting to play again, and i'm sure those born from 2010-2012 have some experience in the game. My cousin who was born in 2012 has played it. And you can go back to a previous version of Minecraft, so even then people who say that only "2000s kids" will remember are wrong.
Personally, I think that 2003-2009 babies (yes, 2009 babies) are trying to fit in with the "old school" group, which to them is anything before 2010 I would assume, and by calling theirselves 2000s kids they feel "retro" or something when they really aren't.
I find it absurd to see 2005-09 babies calling themselves 2000s kids......

Most mid 2000s babies try to relate to 2000s stuff I’m like the only one who can relate to 2010s things way more mostly early to mid 2010s. But we won’t see that until the future.

My biggest fear really, I really don't want 2000s nostalgia to be milked. I want 2000s nostalgia to keep that underrated feel, that's how it felt in 2015.

Hope i'm not biased, but i'd say 2003+ because 2002 babies are hybrids. They also had a decent amount of childhood in the 2000s, and depending on the childhood definition they'd actually lean 2000s.

You can speak free all you want and I respect your opinion. Yeah it's kind of hard to decide where 2002 borns fit in the category. They could be either 2000s or 2010s. To me though, 2003 borns are the first FULL 2010s kids since they only had two years of core childhood in the 2000s (2008 and 2009) and 4 years in the 2010s (2010, 2011, 2012 and part of 2013 except for those born on January 1 and December 31). 2002 on the other hand had three core childhood years in the 2000s (2007-2009) and the same for the early 2010s (2010-2012) so I guess so...

It's amazing to me that kids/teens are now arguing with 20-somethings about who had the true "2000's experience". I remember in 2009, exactly a decade ago, where similar discussions were held about 90s kids. It's nice to see a new appreciation about the 2000s decade, but I also think it should be reasonable, I still want it to be an underdog/underrated decade as that makes it easier to really appreciate the obscure pieces of pop culture from this era.

I don't think anything from the 2000s will be old school for another decade. Most of the pop culture from that era still feels relevant and even at times. Most likely, the year 2000, does present an old school vibe, but the rest of the decade, not so much. And as for the 2000s folks calling themselves "2000s kids", I don't have any problems with it. If anything, there's a good chance they could remember something and even experienced it within that timeframe. For instance, a 2003 person could have nostalgia for shows such as Chowder, Flapjack, Secret Saturdays as well as other things being the X360, Wii, PS3, NDS, and the PSP.

I think by 2025 the early and mid 2000s will be pretty retro, by then we'll probably have many advances in technology, as well as a distinct feeling from the 2010s. The 2010s on the other hand I predict will seem pretty modern in the 2020s and maybe even in the 2030s. The mid-late 2010s will probably seem very new school even in the mid-2020s. The early 2010s will probably be very dated by then, but the rest of the decade i'll find very modern. Yeah, but that doesn't make them 2000s kids. 2002 babies are pushing it as well because they were only in school during the late 2000s. I think those born in 2001 or earlier are the last who are predominantly 2000s kids, those born in 2002 or hybrids (could lean towards 2000s or 2010s), but anyone born 2003+ is solidly 2010s.

Eh, the early 2000s are starting to be a while ago now after all so it doesn't surprise me that much. In a few months the year 2000 will turn 20 even.
