I heard some say that 2009 was the year when 2010s music started to take shape. That is true but there were still plenty of songs that still sound 00s:
Boom Boom Pow Use Somebody Second Chance Blame It On The Alcohol Birthday Sex Breakeven Hotel Room Mad The Climb Sober LoveGame Paparazzi Heartless Gives You Hell You Found Me Whataya Want From Me Circus According To You My Life Would Suck Without You You Belong With Me Halo Dead and Gone Knocks You Down Kiss Me Through The Phone

This is a fun thread idea! ^I swear my mind registered this as from the early 2000s, but it was actually released so late into 2009 that it wasn't a hit until 2010 Other songs that stand out in this category: ^Fitting as this was the very last Billboard nr.1 of the 2000s with "Tik Tok" replacing it immediately the first week of the 2010s

Bad Romance Tik Tok Whatcha Say Fireflies I Gotta Feeling Party In The USA Poker Face Forever Obsessed Sexy Chick Down I'm Not Alone Evacuate The Dance Floor Best I Ever Had 3 Hey Soul Sister How Low Can You Go Imma Be Bedrock

Funny you should say that, I think of Boom Boom Pow, Birthday Sex, and Paparazzi as pretty distinctly 2010s songs. I'm not exactly sure how Boom Boom Pow would be a distinctively 2010s song. It actually pays hommage to miami bass sound of the late 90s-early 00s, and I for sure remembered thinking that it sounded pretty corny and dated by 2013 which was in amidst of the progressive house boom.

It sounded dated in 2013, sure, but it sounds right at home in 2008-2009. Also, I definitely don’t remember stuff from the early ‘00s that sounded like that. I don’t know what to tell you.

By the 2009-2010 school year, most of the songs lean in 2010s territory.

I don't know, to me, "Boom Pow Pow" sounds very much like a product of the Late 2000s. I couldn't picture it being released any later than 2011 and the fact that the lyrics contain the words, "I'm so 3008, you so 2000 and late", makes the case of it having very strong ties with the 2000s even stronger.

Yeah, Boom Boom Pow is just a standard urban-dance track that isn’t too distant from Fergalicious, My Love, and Low. I Gotta Feeling, however, was a true game-changer.

Strange that I didn't post this earlier on this thread, but this topped the UK charts in 2009 and it sounds straight up out of the mid-2000s.

Definitely this post-grunge song, it actually sounds somewhat out of place for 2009. It's hard to believe that this was a legitimately big hit around the same time that "Tik Tok" and "Paparazzi" were on the charts.

The rest are just ordinary late 2000s songs.

The song has remained in my mind for years, but that would be the first time I've heard it in about 10 years.
