I saw a post that reminded me of this, in 2005 we had comebacks of 90's acts, Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys and even Will Smith ! 2005 is the year Vh1 would explode with all of it's 80's Surreal Life reality shows. 2005 was the year OBSESSED with nostalgia.
People started posting about the 90s online in message boards around 2005 as well. Anyone remember when nostalgia was the HOT TOPIC of 2005 ?

I didn't really notice, to be honest. A lot of these groups/singers were popular in the Y2K era. I'm not sure they were old enough to count as nostalgia acts.
'80s nostalgia was big though, in the early 2000s as well.

It's not something I took notice of as I was only 6 at the time, so I can't really comment on it.

I don’t know that I would call the BSB album a nostalgia act; a failed comeback sure, but at that time their last album was only five years before, and I’m pretty sure there was a shorter time between that and the previous single.

Well if memory serves, the two subsequent albums didn’t do so well.

If anything, this probably marks when our culture became overbearingly obsessed with nostalgia. Which as I've probably beaten to death before, I credit to the internet not letting anything die off. That makes perfect sense for 2005, since I'd say that's when the internet became a lot more steady.
