We are already seeing some of this in the late ‘10s, but people around the world are getting angry about the crumbling world order and corruption and whatnot. I’ve seen quite a bit of talk about voting with our wallets, of boycotting fairly large companies like Amazon, Google, and Apple.
I would posit that if the current crop of leaders are voted out, this is going to be a BIG deal for at least the first half of the next decade. I can easily see a move away from big corporate brands and back to local mom ‘n’ pops, cutting out meats in favor of plant-based substitutes, massive boycotts and vocal protests of companies like Blizzard that are seen as shilling for authoritarian governments, etc.
Most interestingly, with the fall of Netflix and greater IP restrictiveness my media monopolies like Disney and Comcast, I also anticipate a revival of widespread media piracy. Add to that the fact that Millennials and Zillennials appear to be strongly anti-corporate cohorts, for whom activism has become a big deal in recent years. They have the motivation, will, and ability to orchestrate more such wallet activism if there is sufficient interest in a given cause.
Thoughts?

I believe it's called woke capitalism and I agree it's on the rise. I practise it too: if I believe a company has behaved unethically in some way, I'm much less likely to buy or use their products.
In a world where we say the only responsibility a corporation has is maximizing value for shareholders, the onus falls onto the consumer to ensure that ethical behaviour is a part of the equation in "maximizing value for shareholders".
