2016 really wasn't as good as everyone is saying. Honestly, the year sucked hard, especially for the politics and shootings that happened then. Gaming was going downhill fast with only a couple of memorable (in a good way) games that year (those I can think of are Battlefield 1, Forza Horizon 3, Uncharted 4 and DOOM 2016). Pokemon GO exploded in popularity too, so I guess that's another memorable game. Many disappointing movies and games then. Animation was decent but music was just awful. The only other good type of culture may have been the memes, which aren't nearly enough to compensate for the mess of a year that was 2016. Very overrated year.

I can see why people are nostalgic for 2016. 2017-Present is pretty much like living in a dystopian nightmare that I wish I could just wake up from. 2016 wasn't that great though. It just seems "simple" in comparison to today.
Also, 2016 probably had the worst music overall of any year this decade despite the fact that there were some excellent songs that year.

I will never understand why you dislike post-2012 so much. But that's your opinion and I can't change it. Maybe if you were in my shoes you'd understand. I took this horrible medicine that made me more autistic (I have high functioning autism). It sounds kind of crazy but after I took the medicine I started to hear voices in my head, and by now I sometimes go into my own world and stall in the middle of public places for some 6 seconds or so. Not only that, but I also became much more antisocial as my mom took me out of school after the 2012-13 school year, and she decided to homeschool me. Much of the things I loved during my childhood faded away or got worse, like Toontown Online, Need For Speed (is pretty bad now), and Blockbuster. Plus you gotta deal with puberty which is just awful.

How? 2016 was easily the most hated year. So many people on the internet crapped all over the year when it ended! I’ve never see it like that with other years, not even 2018 or 2019. The only year that came even close was 2009 and of course 2020. Though 2009's rep is now COMPLETELY different, and this is happening to 2016 too.

I rarely see people saying 2018 was a good year, 2019 is being praised because it was the year preceding the end of the world.
Rarely see anyone talking about 2010 but it is a loved year cause of the early 10s circlejerk

Rarely see anyone talking about 2010 but it is a loved year cause of the early 10s circlejerk 2010 is loved though: Adventure Time, Regular Show, Fallout: New Vegas, Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, Tangled, and Red Dead Redemption. It also wasn’t that tumultuous of a year with the only real bad thing happening being the Haiti earthquake. It’s arguably the most peaceful year of the 2010s too. 2015 is easily among the most loved years of the 2010s. Just the fact Bloodborne and Witcher III are ranked as two of the best games of all time, plus To Pimp a Butterfly as the most loved album of the decade is a sign of this. Undertale is also worshipped. Minions is the only thing about 2015 that is hated. I think 2015 ties with 2010 for most loved. 2010 has less bad said about it though, so I’d say it’s the most loved year.
