Maybe because there's a 2020 election and there's a good chance Trump is gonna win? Thus being president for the first half of the 2020s? And possibly setting up the tone for culture in the next several years? Explain to me how things like "evangelical christian men" and "white supremacists" tie back to 2020s pop culture? I see very little in that thread which is based on describing what it is like to live as a gay teen in 2019. The fact of the matter is, if you all wanted to talk about the upcoming 2020 election and Trump's presidency, then it shouldn't have been created in a 2020s pop-culture board. It's a political topic. Hahaha. Dude really? Those are like 2 posts from the entire thread. You're just picking out nonsense and trying to make it look like we're the bad guys.

this is really making me fucking mad. i made that thread because i wanted to talk to other ppl on here and it went really well until you had to lock it...way to fucking go... There's nothing stopping you from talking to other people on here. If you want to talk about what it is like to live as a gay teen in the current time or Trump's Presidency, by all means, do so. Just be mindful that the sub-boards have their specific purpose and the topics you want to talk about may be considered off-topic if they are spoken about in unrelated sub-boards (i.e the 2020s pop culture sub-board). so why does my thread get locked? why can't u just move it to whatever board it belongs and let us talk? this is bs. i'm really starting to dislike the rules on this site...

It was locked because the off-topic conversation would have continued if no one had intervened. A similar thing happened just a few days ago when general warnings had to be given out in the "What do you think the 2010s will be remembered for?" thread and people continued to discuss off-topic political discussions while ignoring the warnings. I didn't want to take that chance. The topic will be moved to a more appropriate sub-board; the message I want to make clear is that we have sub-boards for certain types of conversations.

That it is okay to create topics wherever you want, even if they are off-topic? This has been an ongoing issue for months now. I decided to temporarily lock that thread so that it gets the point across that certain rules need to be adhered to. It isn't acceptable to post about politics or religion in a completely unrelated topic, nor is it okay to create a politics thread in a sub-board which isn't suited to it.

I'm truly sorry that I caused this drama. I know people voice their political opinions,that's freedom of speech. I just want to talk about pop culture and nostalgia.Talking about politics gives me negative vibes and cause divisiveness among people, especially in this climate. I'm sorry that I caused this drama. I know people voice their political opinions,that's freedom of speech. I just want to talk about pop culture and nostalgia and talking about politics gives me negative vibes. Again, I apologize for the mess I made. Don't feel bad, no one is at fault for this. It is just an example of misunderstanding and confusion. At least this will clear things up going forward.

It wasn't just the "2010s thread" that it has happened with; it has been an incident that has been occurring in several threads since the start of August. I'm sorry that you couldn't talk with the people who you wanted to talk to, however I had to enact on what was happening.

I take a little responsibility here for making a post regarding elections, but I really didn’t even pay attention to where the thread was located. Sometimes I think it can be difficult to know where to put a thread and I can see why a discussion about the future could end up in the 2020’s board. Other sites I’ve used have had a strict policy of no politics except on the political board, so maybe that should be formally made the case here.

I realise that, but there was a reason as to why I decided to lock it and it wasn't just because of what was going on in the thread. In any case, I've moved it to the politics sub-board now and unlocked it.
