I saw a thread titled "2000s sounding songs in 2009" and thought I'd do a sequel for songs from this year. While it may be too early to tell what music will sound like in the 2020s, there's a good chance that at least the first half of the decade will sound similar to today's music. Here's a list of songs that were made or were popular in 2019 that sound like they could've been popular at any point in this decade:
Happier Middle Child Sucker You Say Dancing With A Stranger High Hopes Shallow Sweet But Psycho Sicko Mode Youngblood Eastside Someone You Loved Bad Guy Here With Me Worth It Miss Me More Going Bad I Don't Care Senorita Hey Look Ma, I Made It Never Really Over Beautiful People Speechless Walk Me Home If I Can't Have You Circles Memories One Thing Right Lover Trampoline Lose You To Love Me

"Bad Guy" is definitely a product of the whole detached pop trend of the late 2010s and even features a trap section for good measure.
"Shallow" strikes me as pretty un-2010s, not many acoustic power anthems were popular this decade.

I just mentioned a song that doesn't, also "Lover" by Taylor Swift is closer in sound to late 20th century soft rock rather than anything from this decade. Especially compared to the bro-country trend that invaded country charts it is incredibly alien.

Circles sounds like a mid 90s alternative rock song which could be the next hot sound.

The former would have sounded out of place had it been released during the Late 2000s. The synths used in the bridge sound unquestionably "2010s" and the production techniques differ from those used in pop releases back in 2008/09. I also don't believe "Circles" sounds like a mid-'90s alt-rock song. Foster the People or Cage the Elephant could have released it.

Power anthems were actually a pretty big thing around 2012-2015, with songs like “Hall of Fame” and “I Lived”

I wonder what song right now will most likely be the sound of the early 20s.

It sounds like something that could have been released during the electropop era.

I wonder what song right now will most likely be the sound of the early 20s. If I had to guess now, I'd say probably anything by Billie Eilish.

Circles also has some Grunge elements. Sorry but i'm going to have to strongly disagree with you on that; they sound nothing alike. The production between the two songs is completely different for starters, but the types of instrumentation used contrasts as well. Also, "Circles" sounds absolutely nothing like Grunge either. Not only does the song have a polished sound, features vibrato & auto-tune, and has production techniques found in current pop releases, but it contains none of the stylistic characteristics which define Grunge as a genre. Where's the sludgy electric guitar or distorted bass chords? Where is the punk or metal influence? It has none of those elements. Compare "Circles" with a real grunge song, such as "Come As You Are". No similarities whatsoever:

"Sweet, but Psycho" is at best structured like a song from 2009 (it actually has basically has a very similar melody to Jay Sean's "Down"), but otherwise I very much agree with Sharksfan that in instrumentation is completely different from songs of back then. People tend to exaggerate and call anything both upbeat and electronically made harkening back to the electropop era. It does not feature the jittery synth stabs that were popular back then, and features a cleaner echoey production full of reverb and even some vocal chops in the bridge that are very widespread nowadays. It is closer to this very 2019 song: Than to this very 2009 song: Power anthems were actually a pretty big thing around 2012-2015, with songs like “Hall of Fame” and “I Lived” Those are empowering songs, not power ballads. They don't depict emotional journeys, and aren't structured around continuous buildups instrumental-wise. And with all the synthetic drumkits and vocal processing, they aren't very acoustic either.
