"Losing My Religion" also features R.E.M.'s iconic jangling guitars. Nothing of that is in "Circles". If there is one 2019 song that takes influences from early 90s alt rock. It's this song by Niall Horan taking from the Madchester genre and has Happy Mondays' influences all over.

Yeah, you're right. Sweet But Psycho is structured like a 2009 song but the sound is very late 2010s. I wonder if Dance Monkey and Circles will be the sound of the early 2020s. Circles does sound very similar to this new indie pop sound from Clairo, Tame Impala, and Rex Orange County. Dance Monkey can also jumpstart this chill dance trend in the next few years. There could also be a lot of Billie Eilish wannabes in the early 2020s just like Lorde wannabes in the mid 2010s.

Actually, I have noticed that "Industrial-pop" seems to have picked up a bit of steam over the course of this year. 5 Seconds of Summer released that industrial-inspired, Tom Morello collaboration a few months ago and then of course, Billie Eilish's singles have generated a lot of buzz as well.
