As the title suggests, did you ever sneak out of school? Did you get in trouble for it?
I did quite a lot during my final two years in High School. When my friend and I would have a free period, we would sneak out of school, grab KFC or Hungry Jacks for lunch, then park by the lake and listen to music while having it. We never got caught thankfully, however the school did catch on to the fact that there were people leaving school when they weren't supposed to and they began to crack down on it towards the end of Year 12.
There were several other times where I would leave school when I wasn't supposed to. Sometimes, if I was feeling pissed off and wanting some time to myself, I would drive to the boat-ramp during my lunch break and listen to music for 20-25 minutes. A teacher did spot me walking down to my car once. There was also a time where I left school for an hour and a half and went to a chemist because I had an upset stomach. Also, one time in Year 12, I left school 35 minutes early one day (due to my class just sitting around doing nothing) and my friend covered for me by saying to the teacher that he didn't know where I went.

Never.
My school had really tough penalties for anyone who sneaks out without a PTL note.

Never. My school had really tough penalties for anyone who sneaks out without a PTL note. That's fair enough. I don't think my school ever had any type of punishment in place for people who sneaked out of school. Our principal would quite often bring it up during whole school assemblies and threaten "tough penalties" for anyone caught, but i'm not aware of anyone who actually did get in a lot of trouble for doing so.

Never. Though I did think about it a few times. I knew of some that actually did (even a couple I used to hang around with at the time), but my schools were particularly tough on this along with wagging classes and such. I knew of ones that subsequently got caught and got punished for it!

Only once in 2002. I lost one of my books, and my old school was really big into humiliating students. So I didn't come.

Nope. My school is like a prison with fencing at the front, so it would be VERY difficult.

Before college, I never did, as you would easily get caught for it, and they give you a Saturday detention, and as someone who never even had a normal detention before, I was not willing to risk it. Plus, I didnt drive to school, even though I got a license when I was a high school senior. However, during some of the high school juniors and seniors did ditch class. I remember this one guy in my US History class during my junior year of high school trying to ditch class, but he made it pretty obvious by trying to walk sideways staring at ditched class. However, my brother did ditch class in high school, despite he went to the same high school as me, but he graduated from that high school in 2006 (he was born November 11, 1988, so him and a lot of people born in October-December were able to graduate with those born in January of their birth year), while I started attending class in that high school in 2011. My dad also ditched class when he was in school. He was not studious, though because he grew up in India unlike me, my brother, and mom, he did not the sub. In college, a lot of my classes took attendance, but for the few that didnt, I only did it for ge classes which were just boring lectures that had ppts online. My dad never had to go through the college application process like we did, where we would have to be lucky enough to be accepted into a university. He just took a college entrance exam, and if he did well on it, he was able to get into that college with the major he wanted. This was back in 1975 though, but it is still the same system even after 44 years. My mom never ditched, but a lot of my friends did.

You got in trouble for going out on your free time? Wut.
I feel like this is one way Canadian schools are different from schools everywhere else. My school didn't care even if you got up and left in the middle of class. Teachers would always threat "If you're going to talk in class, then you are free to do it outside." I rarely ever skipped class though, but I did a few times especially if there was a substitute teacher. When I had free time... I almost always went home. My house was a 5 minute walk away, why wouldn't I?

I think free period means you have no class but they still expect you to be within school grounds. My school required you to get a signed off-grounds pass from the school office in order to leave the school grounds.

Our schedule could fit 8 courses (4 per semester), but I only took 7, so I had one free period during my last semester of high school. Those free periods were the best, we would hop on the subway and go to the mall or just walk around town (I lived near downtown Toronto). Or we'd go to each other's houses. But that wasn't the only time I went home, I also went home with my friends during lunch time to play video games. My mom would also cook me and my friends a fresh lunch. It would SUCK if I had to stay in school, that's not a high school, that's a day prison.

I wanted to ditch out of the pep rally because my friends were but I didn't want to get caught. I had to stay for the stupid and loud pep rally and my friends ended up getting caught anyways.

It would SUCK if I had to stay in school, that's not a high school, that's a day prison. Both my high school and middle school required us to take six classes a day, so we would basically be having homework everyday for every class along with the tests and quizzes. Yeah, our lunch was only 36 minutes long, so no time to go home and enjoy. Yeah, each day in high school was extremely long, with lunch time and PE being the only class periods when time flew by, but they didnt offer PE for junior and senior year, which sucked. People with an offgrounds pass were allowed to take their cars and drive to a fastfood nearby. I never did that cause I couldnt afford being tardy to class and get a detention for that. College was better than secondary school. Elementary school was cool for me, and first semester of seventh grade, but college was great, except I just went there to get my degree rather than actually trying to join frats or attend college parties. I did join a cult, but after like two days, I wanted out.

Pretty much impossible unless a parent called to excuse you (or you faked their voice). Most doors were locked and there were cameras. We had no free periods so if you didn’t make it for attendance in your next class you could get detention. Lunch was only 20 minutes so really no point in leaving.
In college I only skipped if I was sick. Most of my professors used attendance as the participation grade and it was an easy way to boost your grade.

I did once or twice. If the teacher didn't turn up and it was the last class, however, everyone just "ditched".
