Pretty much impossible unless a parent called to excuse you (or you faked their voice). Most doors were locked and there were cameras. We had no free periods so if you didn’t make it for attendance in your next class you could get detention. Lunch was only 20 minutes so really no point in leaving. I'm surprised to hear that your school was ever permitted to install cameras, surely that's a breach of privacy? I suppose they could have done so on the grounds of 'protecting' the schoolkids from any potential threats, but still, i'm sure there would be a lot of parents who would have a real issue with their kids being filmed while attending the school.

I'm homeschooled, but sometimes it does happen where my mom forgets about school.

To be honest, with these school shootings, and teachers raping students, cameras are necessary at school. Plus, cheating is common nowadays too. To be honest, safety is more important than privacy.

I never left school in the middle of the day. In middle and high school my parents would've received an e-mail whenever I was marked absent in a class, so only way I could skip school was by pretending to be sick or making up excuses.

Well the cameras were at the entrances so I never felt like I was being "watched" or anything. Tbh this is so normalized to me I wouldn't think to question it. Even in my last year of elementary school I had to buzz in using like a doorbell and be checked on camera if I arrived later than the bus students, so most anything was less annoying than that. Parents would probably only care if it in were bathrooms, locker rooms, etc.

Yeah, my high school had a cop always walking around campus each day, so obviously it would be a big NO-NO to ditch class especially with him around.

I did several times and got caught once and that was because I was stupid in having others along with me. The times I never got caught was when it was just me.
