I don't, although i'm probably a bit too young to remember those ads! These used to air well into the 2000s. Particularly during the 4pm children’s slot. Maybe they aired more in certain regions? Possibly. Although, given that the commercials weren't targeted towards a specific market, you'd think that they would have been shown across most (if not, all) regions. Just out of curiosity (@zampakid and @sydneycitytv), can you two remember the ads EyewitnessTV posted on the previous page?

I use to mostly watch ABC during the day in the 2000's so I don't remember those ads.

That's interesting to hear. Maybe those commercials only aired in Tasmania?

That's interesting to hear. Maybe those commercials only aired in Tasmania? Not sure why but maybe they did! They used to air quite frequently on TDT in its infancy (obviously due to lack of attracting proper advertising with being a new and the first digital-only TV channel in December 2003). Oddly though, I remember they used to air on Southern Cross at times but never saw them on WIN.

It's surprising that Southern Cross have aired them as well. I can understand why TDT would have (for the reason you gave), but there wouldn't be any reason for Southern Cross to air them too.

Yeah, mind you they might’ve aired in other regional areas (perhaps the other digital-only channels MDV in Mildura and DDT in Darwin had them also as I’m sure they would’nt have attracted huge ads space at first either).

Does anyone remember this? This used to be shown on almost every DVD release back in the Mid-Late 2000s.

Yep. Definitely remember this. I get the point of them but I always found these stupid nonetheless. Why put them on legal copies you have clearly paid for and not pirated to start with?

I agree, although I guess they had to spread the word somehow. Funny though, cause the people that actually “pirate” movies etc don’t see them anyways. Only the innocent ones have to suffer through the stupid ‘car stealing’ ads.

I suppose most 90's - 2000's kids would remember these at the beginning of every Nickelodeon VHS tape.
