Oh my. Yes, I may have been six years old at the time, but holy shiznit, I remember this '90s. This is definitely before the Y2K era, and I can say with confidence now that it didn't start until at least the following year if this is what December 1996 looked like.

Oh sweet! All I pretty much know about Y2K Influences in late 1996 are the Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64, and Backstreet Boys/Spice Girls being huge in the UK. I can also tell fashion was getting better thanks to Y2K metallics creeping in, but other than that, it's still very mid-90s, but with some late 90s influences.

Having lived it I can confirm those pastels & y2k metallics were creeping in hard the last few months of 1996, for the most part tho December 96 had heavy mid 90s influences.

It was that weird stage like y2k didn't start yet but Grunge was dead, I loved 1996 it had a nice atmosphere esp December 96. I remember Sabrina the Teenage Witch was being promoted like crazy at the time of this post.

Ahh, I was 3/almost 4 but I barely remember a thing.
I do have some memories from Junior Kindergarten (1996-1997 school year) but they are all traumatic lmao. About the nicest memory I have is my aunt taking me to Burger King after school.

I bet if you wore those clothes from Sept. 1996 to May 1997, you would be called rich kid more like 300-1000, at first designers like Issey Miyake had very shiny styles (runway designer) but later on in the year you had price ranges between 30-75 depending on if it was a dress or sneakers etc, (fast fashion houses) however that look was not even dumbed down to a main stream level yet, you would hardly see people wearing it but there were people wearing it lol
