We all have played them, we have all seen them, we have all experienced them. The item? Video games.
Here is the list with detailed explanation of my favorite video game systems of ALL TIME, feel free to agree
and disagree with me on my choices as they are obviously my preference.
10.) Nintendo Game Boy
Who can forget the most successful handheld of all time ? The system lasted from 1989 to 1998 (prolonged life due to Pokemon)
With titles such as Super Mario Land 2, Wario Land... This system had graphics almost on par with Super Nintendo ! It was amazing
what this little handheld did for culture.
9.) Sega Genesis/ Mega Drive
The system that started the war with Nintendo, who could forget the Sega ads on tv every minute bashing SNES ? The war on the school field was
real with this system. Sega Genesis was the system of choice if you played Sports games ( They played faster) who could forget BLOOD being added in Mortal Kombat ? Who could forget Sonic 3 ? This system had almost arcade perfect ports as well, such a terrific system that changed the game.
8.) Nintendo 64
Not my most favorite system to own but it had to go on the list. Super Mario 64 changed the way we play 3d games. Despite being a failure
by the GP it did have some AMAZING games like Goldeneye 007, Star Fox 64. The controller was also unique for it's time as it had RUMBLE
something which systems from then on would adopt.
7.) Xbox
This game solidified online gaming as THE thing with Xbox live, with titles such as HALO 2, Jet Grind Radio, it really had some unique experiences.
Whenever a multi platform game would come out XBOX had the BEST version, it also had the best graphics as well. You could also rip CDs to the machine !
6.) xbox 360
Microsoft built on what the original xbox great and made it greater. Xbox live now became a house hold name. Gears of War changed gaming in 2006, the graphics were UNREAL. Xbox 360 became the console of choice of the late 2000s.
5.) PlayStation
The system that made video gaming mainstream, Sony destroyed Nintendo's dominance and gathered all of their 3rd party support
during this era. This system is also responsible for killing the arcade as you could now play arcade quality titles AT HOME ! Who could forget playing Final
Fantasy 7 for the firs time? Or Tekken 3? Or Crash Bandicoot? Hell Tomb Raider was so popular it got a MOVIE!
4.) Game Boy Advance
This little handheld changed the game when it came out, had 32-bit graphics capable of playing 2D ps1 level titles such as Rayman, Tekken. Who can forget Sonic Advance series on this system ? Game Boy Advance series has sold 81.51 million units worldwide It was a monster !!!
3.) Sega Dreamcast
9/9/99 we all remember the hype, this system Changed gaming forever ! First system to have REAL Online play. Invented the 2K series of sports games
which still continues today, and the FIRST 128 bit system ! Had fun titles such as Seaman, Jet Set Radio, Sonic Adventure 1& 2 and even Space channel 5 !
Who could forget listening to Offspring while running off people in Crazy Taxi? This system had better ports then the arcade at the time !
2.) Super Nitendo
Who can forget what this system did for 16 bit gaming? During the 16 bit war Nintendo was losing to Sega until Donkey Kong Country dropped
and made Sega go in panic mode. Nintendo eventually caught up in the race due to this LEGENDARY title. Who can forget Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island and the soundtrack ? The SNES had a custom Sony soundchip inside of it so it made games sound REALLY REALLY GOOD. SNES perfected what the original Nintendo created with video games.
1.) Playstation 2
Not much needs to be said for this, it is the greatest video game system of all time. Classic titles like Tekken Tag, Grand Theft Auto 3, San Andreas..
This system also came with a Sony DVD drive, making the system many home consumers FIRST ever DVD player. The addition of DVD playback made
this fly off the shelves when it first launched. Who can forget playing Final Fantasy X or Metal Gear Solid 2?
