The likes of "Uptown Funk", "Old Town Road" and "Rolling in the Deep" will no doubt be bound to come-up in 'generation-defining' lists or 2010s retrospective articles in the future, however there's quite a lot of other successful Top-40 songs from this decade which have since fallen into obscurity. The point i'm making is that there's likely only going to be a few select songs which will pop into people's minds when they think back to the 2010s. These will be the songs which will receive the most recognition by the public and the media alike. Think of it this way, when someone thinks back to the music of 2017, will "Shape of You" come to mind first or will it be something like DJ Khaled's "I'm The One"? We all know what the answer's going to be.
This thread is for sharing Top-40 hits from this decade, whether they topped the charts, became moderately successful or were simply only minor hits, which have ultimately fallen into obscurity due to a lack of recognition, airplay or the fact that the artist has since lost relevancy in the mainstream.
I'll start off:
Here's an EDM hit from 2013 which performed quite well on the charts globally. I remember this being quite popular when I was in Year 8. I can't say that I've seen people talk about it or listen to it (whether it be online or in real life) for years though. In fact, the last time I heard it on the radio would have had to have been back in 2014, I think.
Became popular around the turn of 2015. Jeez, this reminds me so much of my experiences of P.E. back in Year 10. Having to listen to some of the kids in my year group blasting this, "Turn Down For What" and "Bills" through their Bluetooth portable speakers wasn't fun...

Heard this British synthpop song on Triple J a few minutes ago. I don't mind it, I remember it was a reasonably big hit here in Australia in 2010. Hard to believe it's almost ten years old though! There is unfortunately tragic circumstances surrounding the events that would follow shortly after the release of this single; the lead singer of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool sadly took his own life just days before their debut album was released. He was only 22 years old.

I randomly thought of this earlier. It's for the best that it has been forgotten though.

I randomly thought of this earlier. It's for the best that it has been forgotten though. Why? The unexpected strings, the light progression, the loveably ditty lyrics, totally one of the best pop hits of 2014.
