But you're missing the overall point. If you don't agree with the way someone lives or thinks, why should the government force you to accommodate for them anyway? Especially if we're talking privately owned businesses? Letting businesses discriminate against sexuality is a slippery slope that would create more homophobia & prejudice. Letting businesses discriminate against LGBT folks tells the general public that homophobia is ok & there's no consequences for open bigotry. This isn't the right message we should be sending. Discrimination based on race, sex & sexuality has no place in this country. With all due respect Cupid, your arguments are emotionally driven and you're not reading the facts. You gotta take a close read at the first amendment. So, using this rule, even if you hate gay marriage, your speech is still protected under the first amendment. Now, let's say Christian bakers must serve to the gays, even if your religion tells you no. What choice do you have now? You can't just say no anymore because the government has decided that your religion doesn't matter. So you gotta go against your traditional values or else you could get sued.

You have to understand that the first amendment doesn't fundamentally approve religious discrimination. What the amendment is truly saying is that you have the right to hold your religious beliefs. You're allowed to disagree with gay marriage, however, that doesn't give you the constitutional right to act upon those beliefs & deny the rights of others.

If I can't act upon my religious beliefs, what in the hell is the point in freedom of religion? What is free exercise thereof supposed to mean, by your definition? I think you're confused.

Damn this debate is interesting lmao. Honestly, I can see both sides of this issue. I do feel like tolerance is a two-way street IMO. If religious people should respect gay people, then I feel like gay people should respect the religious baker's right to kindly refuse. I don't think public businesses should have the right to discriminate protected classes though. I'm just talking about religious bakers.

Ok, those people are outta control, sure, but most Christian bakers aren't like that. C'mon.

Yes. I believe in freedom of religion for all. If I were to run a baking company, I would just serve straight people. My religion does not concur with same-sex marriage. Wow thats rude. Maybe you should reconsider your attitude and also the possible effects your actions can have on non straight people before you discriminate for no reason
