And girls, I guess, though I think it’s less definitive as to what it looks like. www.instagram.com/tv/B6W91dkBNCI/?igshid=1w1pk5ghs4bdiDoes this style actually exist outside the internet? Forgive me but it has been 2013 in my area fashion wise for roughly the past ten years. #hipstersneverdie Didn’t think I’d still be linking Buzzfeed almost in 2020 yet here we are.

Oh, the nail polish is an eboy thing? I have seen that around but I thought it was a gay thing.
TBH I dig it. The hairstyle has been everywhere here since 2016/2017 and I really like it (although there's a lot of people that it doesn't fit well with). I would have to get rid of my beard if I wanna try the hairstyle tho and that would be an adjustment.

The style is kinda fascinating in how it looks like a mixture of emo with street plus a dash of 90’s boy. Something I never expected to see together, but I can get behind it. #middleparts2020

I see it every now and then, it really just depends on where you are. Even in small rural conservative towns you can find at least one or two guys who are trying out the style.
Some guys look cute with it ngl.

What if Yungblud invented e-boys? I could see him having had some sort of influence on the development of the style, but on the other hand, is YUNGBLUD's influence so huge that he would have aided in the creation of a new fashion scene? I have my doubts, tbh. He does have a decent-sized fan base, however he is far from being one of the biggest names in music and pop culture in general.

I agree he isn't actually big enough for people to truly be copying him. But could he have helped set off a chain reaction? Maybe. Trying to pin down where exactly trends stem from is so often a game of "chicken or the egg". It's amazing how people can have similar ideas right around the same time.

It could even be a generational thing too. Fashion subcultures typically arise out of a rejection against the aesthetics of the previous era. The Early 2010s were a very preppy, upbeat time for pop culture, and they happened to be a stark contrast to the "bling", loose-fitting aesthetic of the Mid-Late 2000s, so the e-boys trend could simply be the byproduct of this era of teens and twenty-somethings wanting to go for something more "authentic". I think Billie Eilish's public image largely falls into the same camp as well, even if her look is noticeably different to that of Yungblud's and e-boys.

Billie Eilish’s look is probably a good example of “e-girl” style. There’s a fair amount of the early 00’s coming back right now, which makes sense from the “fashion is cyclical” perspective. There’s a little bit of that hardcore thing going on, which was basically dead though most of the 10’s. Interesting how it’s not overpowering wholesome culture though, rather it seems to be mixing with it.
