Why can't you not listen to it? I get sometimes you just can't get away from an annoying song, but I rarely hear trap on movies/tv shows/advertisements/in public places. I dont listen to Trap when I'm alone, but it's just that whenever I'm in high school or on my car radio, it's all Trap music. I barely turn on my car radio anyway, only to make fun of Trap music.

I'd be fine with a Trap demolition night, it will make no effect though, but you guys can try. But still, we need something new other than just Trap That just sounds barbaric, just like the original Disco Demo Night. I may not like trap either, but the vitriol towards it is just as annoying. It's just a genre of music you guys, calm the fuck down. If you don't like popular music, listen to the endlessly large catalogue of alternative and underground music, there's so much rich creativity to explore below the Top 200. I get it, I've been listening to the music I like, it's just that theres a lot of Trap songs that my high school is playing, and a lot of jocks are playing Trap music in the hallways, which is just hard to ignore. Honestly, I feel bad now for making this thread. I never intended to do this but it's just the anxiety and anger in me made me make this thread, and I just had to share my own opinion...

Not to mention that plenty of Disco Demolition Night was fueled by racism and homophobia. Really one of the last actions to take example after. Yeah. I feel horrible for mentioning a Trap demolition night, but it wont happen. Yes, I mentioned that I wanted it to happen, but now I change my mind. This doesn't mean I will like Trap music, but thanks for letting me know about what Disco Demolition Night also had...

I feel ya. When I was in high school, ringtone rap—as the name suggests—was blasting from everyone's phone. It was really annoying and I didn't even listen to the radio back then.

Ahh I see, but at least it's not bad as Trap

Don't feel bad for creating this topic! I actually think it's interesting to hear the perspective of someone who is still in high school and experiencing it during a time when Trap music is hugely popular. I can definitely relate to what you're saying though. When I was in Year 9 back in 2014, there were kids in my year group who constantly played crap songs like "Lean On" and "Turn Down For What" during P.E. and in the corridors. Yuck.

Yeah sorry guys for being a bit too harsh, I was just angry and anxious... Have you ever considered talking to a professional about your anxiety? I don’t mean that in a mean-spirited way at all; if it’s causing you that much distress in your everyday life, it doesn’t sound healthy. I would guess there are probably other hurts or concerns lying underneath your dislike of trap music, and I bet a social worker or someone can help you identify and confront whatever those are.

You may disagree with me but I liked Turn Down for what and Lean on. I dont hate all Trap music, I enjoyed trap music from 2013-2016

I did, it's just that I'm upset of myself of what I've done this past year. I've made so many bad mistakes like hanging out with fake friends who ended up using me, not doing what I loved doing this summer, focusing on negative things (Including trap music), and gaining weight, I had to resolve my mistakes and making this thread was one of them... I did talk to a doctor about it, and it actually helps. Dont get me wrong, I'm not like this everyday, I dont complain about Trap music everyday, and that I am a happier person now since I work out and know my mistakes, it's just that when I see more Trap music being on the charts, my adrenaline kicked in to making this thread...

Turn Down For What might not be a stroke of musical genius but the music video certainly was. I thought Lean On was EDM though, not trap.

At this point, trap will most likely stick around during the first half of the 2020s but it'll morph into a different style. Mood is probably an example of that.

Honestly most new music, even if sounds radically different than music 20 years ago, still hasn’t completely escaped late 90s and early 2000s pop music structure and style in a few ways.
In comparison other earlier decades have music that sounds like worlds apart.

Strongly disagree, structurally most songs nowadays have hardly anything to do with the late 90s-early 00s. A song today doesn't even have to possess a hook to work commercially for godsake.

I meant the sound elements still feel connected to then even if it’s radically different, it almost feels like it’s branch and that era was the base.
