Hey guys. I've talked before about the large collection I have of VHS tapes that I or my parents recorded off of TV that were recorded between roughly 1990 and 2009. I have probably close to 50 tapes, with most of them being recorded during the late '90s and early to mid '00s.
I haven't had the chance lately to transfer these tapes over to digital files, but I finally got something that I can do this with, and am about to start moving them over to YouTube, where I will be uploading them on my channel.
The first tape I'm going to transfer is what I consider the greatest of my collection. A four hour tape recorded off of WXTX Fox 54, which my local Fox station here in Georgia, from March 1994. The tape features an entire block of the Fox Afternoon Kids Club, along with a full episode of Full House, complete with classic '90s kids commercials and Fox Kids promos. This has been my favorite childhood tape for some years.
If any of you guys are interested, I will let you know when I have uploaded the video.

Sounds great! I have a few channels dedicated to uploading old TV content myself, so this is right up my alley. Looking forward to seeing what you upload.

I wasn't sure if anybody would care about my dusty old tapes, but nostalgia is a big thing these days, so I guess the interest is better than I hoped. I'm going to change plans slightly, though. Since this digital transfer thing I bought is new, and I haven't used it before, I'm going to start a bit more basic before transferring a four hour tape. I'll start with transferring a block that about 30 minutes that I recorded of the USA Cartoon Express from around May 1994. It has the second half of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episode, and the first half of another, along with some awesome commercials and promos. Hopefully I can upload that video shortly.

Okay guys, I have finally uploaded the video. And I've already had to deal with YouTube copyright annoyances, because I was originally going to include the credits to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in this video, but it got copyright claimed, so I had to edit that out. At any rate, these are the commercials and promos from USA Cartoon Express, recorded sometime during the Spring of 1994. The commercials and promos are from the second half of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episode, and the first half of another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episode. There's not a lot here, because I wanted to do something simple to get used to copying over my tapes. I also want to do the next part of this tape, a full recording of Goof Troop with commercial recorded from Fox, also from Spring 1994. Here's the link for anybody that wants to check it out.

Looks great! It’s always nice to see people like us upload old TV content. Keep up the great work. Okay guys, I have finally uploaded the video. Unfortunately, you will experience quite a lot of this as you progress. It’s really annoying over here in Australia with even some of our TV networks cracking down pretty hard on their copyrighted content and forcing YouTube account closures in recent times. Some of us (who are also members on here) are now choosing to upload selected parts of our collections onto archive.org as you are less likely to get copyright infringement on there unlike on YT. The recent COPPA terms on YT (which has just come in to effect) could also make it difficult for users like us now.

Like EyewitnessTV suggested, it might not be a bad idea to also upload your recordings onto Archive.Org. At least it would be reassuring to know that your videos would still be online, even in the unlikely (but still possible) event that your YouTube channel was taken down to copyright infringement. Also, it would save you from having to re-upload all of your videos later down the track (if you choose to of course). That's something I've had to do with my videos, all 2,000+ of them. It's a huge waste of time and energy. If there's a way for you to avoid ever having to do that, I'd highly suggest doing whatever it takes so that you never have to face doing so.

Yeah, I have considered putting some of this stuff on Archive.org. More than likely, I will probably upload the entire tapes there, with the shows not edited out, so that anybody that wants to can watch the full tape not edited. I will copy another part of the tape that's also shorter, which features a full episode of Goof Troop with commercials from Spring 1994 that was recorded off our local Fox channel, when I have that chance.

I should have the next video posted before too much longer. I've only got to edit out the show, and I'll be finished. This is a full recording of an episode of Goof Troop with commercials and promos that was recorded off of our local Fox station during the Spring of 1994. This video is even more meaningful to me because it features local commercials and promos that are not common YouTube.
