This hit #1 on the Billboard charts. While it is a trap song, it does sound different from 2017-2018 trap with the plucky strings.

If we gonna have trap on top, THIS is the kind of poignant stuff that should top the charts. Not 6ix9ine's fuming garbage.

2020 would have to be the worst year for music I've personally lived through. 2016 set the benchmark pretty low as it was, but thanks to the likes of 6ix9ine, Tones & I and Justin Bieber, this year has taken things to an even lower standard of quality.

The current state of popular music is indeed really saddening. Apparently for music enthusiasts the only way that pop music in 2020 can be any worthwhile is to rip off a previous era which makes me really annoyed. It honestly pains me to see artists like Jessie Ware, one of the most progressive pop artists of the early-to-mid-2010s, just doing a straightup 80s throwback disk as if it's not something we've already seen a million times before.

It's not like there's even a reasoning for it either. The pandemic has presented itself as being the perfect opportunity for artists to go back to their roots and use their time in quarantine to focus solely on the music itself. We're in the midst of a social movement and a global pandemic, the creative juices should be flowing. Instead, we get shit like "Gooba" charting within the Top-40 for weeks at a time, which is really just a sad reflection of where we're at as a society. If this is the music of 2020, the music of 2040 is surely going to make the cheesy Y2K-era look to be on par with The Beatles in terms of quality. It's only going to get worse.

This just broke the record for the most viewed YouTube video in 24h. At least it's lively and musically colorful.

It wasn’t going to happen right away anyway. Check back in spring of next year, by then I’d bet we’ll be seeing the fruits of the quarantine.

I used to worker with a guy and girl who were obsessed with Blackpink. They had converted me at the time, but it's been a long time since I last listened to them.

I've been quite fond of this song lately. Pretty cool mix of airy R&B and colorful British EDM.
