I think we all know January 2001 was very different from eight months later.

This is a pretty awesome era for me, looking back. This was about halfway through my favorite school year ever, 2000-01. I was a young junior high kid back then. I was playing a lot of games I had gotten for Christmas 2000 like Spyro 3 and Pokemon Gold and Silver. I was also watching plenty of WB shows and kids stuff on Cartoon Network and Nick. Toonami was arguably peaking, and so was the WWF with the lead up to the Stone Cold vs. The Rock feud. So much speculation about the PlayStation 2, which had just launched, as we were having the last days of the 5th Gen consoles. With the early '00s now at 20 years old, I miss them a lot. Royal Rumble 2001 was so cool, LOL @ seeing Kane throw out Drew Carey

Also within the month, the Dreamcast was announced to be discontinued worldwide by March 31. That really pissed me off, there were already rumors Sega was planning to do this in January, I sold it before they made the announcement, I remember so many posts on IGN in January 2001 RIP SEGA etc. I remember SEGA put out a press release saying they were making games for Playstation 2 and Gamecube and being like " wtf is that mean" it was clear as day what was going to happen. I was so mad I didn't even care to wait for Sonic Adventure 2, I was like F this F Sega doing this to me again. Could never trust this company again.

Interesting how '00s it looks when everything was taken on digicams. Wonder if that would still be the case if everything was taken on film.

I actually own one of those new Kodak single use film cameras which have been on sale at places like K-mart for the past few years. The image quality can really alter the feel/look of a certain era. If I were to use my film camera to take a photo of something now, the photo would look like something taken in the '80s, not the year 2020. The pictures from 2001 would feel a lot older if they had been taken on film. The photos in this thread look as though they were taken in a completely different era to the film photos I have of me from 2001.

Yeah, I wondered why there were so many digital pictures when digital cameras were still a very exclusive item during the early '00s. I didn't know anybody that had a digital camera back then, not even guys I knew that had money. I will say that digital cameras have advanced enough that pictures taken with digital cameras do look dated from back then because of how much better the image quality on modern stuff is.
