I think you should definitely still give it a go. I remember al said this when she listened to the album for the first time, but it's really interesting to listen to as it's such a product of it's time. Also, who knows, you may end up really enjoying the album! I have to say, I really like Bulletproof Heart. It’s become the MCR song I play most. 100% should’ve been the lead single, it’s just fun.

Yeah, I would consider it as now being one of my favourite MCR songs as well. It was the highlight of the album for me! Also, speaking of MCR, i'm not sure if you or @slowpoke1993 read my post in the 2020s thread, but MCR posted this teaser video just yesterday. It hasn't been confirmed one way or another yet, but many people are saying that it's a teaser video for a new album:

I'll join the contest this year! It is highly unlikely that I will reach 50 albums (just won't have enough time due to schoolwork), but I have a few albums in mind that I would like to listen to. I don't have a personal album collection, so I'll use some of the other albums collecting dust. Unfortunately, most of the albums we have are compilation/various artist albums which I don't want to use. This will mean that I'll have to listen to most albums via YouTube.

What albums do you have in mind? I don't know if you have a Spotify account at all, but another option could be to listen to full albums through Spotify. At least then you wouldn't have to worry about videos buffering and it will take less time to load from one song to the next.

To be honest, I've never really thought about it as YouTube has worked fine. There used to be full albums in a single video, but I can't find them anymore (perhaps they have been taken down for copyright purposes). I was considering going through the first few Oasis albums, I've also had Green Day, Savage Garden and Evanescence in my mind. I've never really listened to full albums, usually only singles, so I'm keen to discover some new music!

Listened to my third album!
It was Nothing But Thieves's self-titled debut album, released in 2015. They are a British alternative/hard rock band. I REALLY enjoyed this album. There are head bangers for days! The lead singer's vocals are above and beyond for a rock band, he must've certainly had formal training. Consequently, some of the songs in here are very depressing. You can really feel the raw emotion come through. The depressing songs were my favourites though.
My only criticism is that past the 10th song on the album, the songs sound like a repeat of the previous songs on the album and it gave away the "formula". That's the only reason I deducted a star. It was really close though, 4.5 stars!

And a fourth!
I listened to Stereo Hype by VHS Collections. It's an electronic/dance rock album. It was pure fun and put me in such a good mood! I'm giving it 4 stars. Certain songs are way better than others.

Thought I would give Green Day's new album, Father of All..., a listen. It was only released yesterday! This album has been absolutely slammed from the comments I've seen online. Look, I can understand the criticisms people have with it, but I do think many have been way too quick to judge. You can't go into this album expecting to hear a new Dookie or American Idiot. This is completely new ground for them, it's a shift away from their trademark pop-punk sound, we should be appraising them for actually doing so after 25 years of largely composing the same style of music.
I'll be honest, I actually quite enjoyed this. It's an interesting garage-rock, indie-inspired album. The lyrics aren't particularly great and I don't like some of the effects applied to Billie Joe's vocals, but the melodies are still good for the most part. One thing that rubs me the wrong way though is the fact that they are clearly targeting teens. They're in their late 40s; not to say that's old, but it's embarrassing that they are singing about issues in high school when they are 30+ years older than current high school kids.

Just a disclaimer: I will mostly listen to early 60s and 2020 albums so don't expect much variety

You should check out Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory EP. It was released before the album of the same name and it's a much more rawer, experimental record.

I am doing a timeline project where I listen to music in chronological order so I have a better understanding to the musical evolution of modern music

Just finished my 5th album! It was Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotion Side B (2016). It was the rejected songs from her 2015 album. This album was just pure fun. It was the upbeat '80s-style bubblegum pop that I was in the mood for. It's better than the actual album it was rejected from! But there are two songs in it that are very repetitive, and I feel like if I listened to them too often I'll get really annoyed. This is a tentative 4 stars, might be 5 stars. I'm just waiting to see if I do actually get annoyed. I upgraded Nothing But Thieve's self-titled to 5 stars. I guess I rushed through the last few songs of the album and thought them forgettable, but on repeated listens, they're actually some of the best songs off an already amazing first half. Solid album all around, and also perfect winter depression music. Thought I would give Green Day's new album, Father of All..., a listen. It was only released yesterday! This might be next one, but I am more excited for Hayley William's solo debut (and am still in the mood for moar bubblegum/electro pop)
