In a 'listening' mood right now, so i'm reviewing another album..oh yeah, it's another Green Day album. Revolution Radio. I have a bit of a backstory to this. "Bang Bang" was one of my favourite songs when I was 17. I blasted the hell out of that song when I was driving around on my red P's back in 2016 and some people would give me looks when they stopped beside me at a set of traffic lights. "Revolution Radio" was another song off RevRad that I liked and I downloaded it onto a USB as well. One of my friends was really into this album shortly after it came out. We would both listen to tracks off this (me "Bang Bang" and "Revolution Radio", him "Still Breathing") through our headphones on the computers during Multimedia. Ah, year 11. Yet, despite liking a couple of the tracks at the time it was new, this is the first time I've actually listened to the album in full. It's a mixed bag unfortunately. There have been people who have brought this up on RateYourMusic, but I really don't like the production on this album. It's way too polished and watered-down. This is a common complaint about post- American Idiot Green Day. The tracks on this album are just too "clean", it doesn't sound that good. The tracks themselves are enjoyable for the most part . "Bang Bang" and "Revolution Radio" still remain favourites of mine, but I also really like "Somewhere Now", "Outlaws" and "Bouncing off the Wall". The biggest stinker here though is "Still Breathing". I can remember not being too bothered about the song four years ago and I still don't particularly like it now. Billie Joe's vocals are the biggest turnoff, not too mention how "safe" the song is and the cringy lyrics. Really don't know why my friend liked this so much. I can't see myself returning to this album anytime soon, however I did enjoy it overall. This album really disappointed me especially with how good the singles were. Blink 182's was the better comeback of 2016. In what way? It's the over-polished sound that ruins it for me, that would be the only complaint I have with the album. Otherwise, I don't think the songs themselves are necessarily bad, but they definitely could have been more enjoyable if the production was better.

Tonight I decided to listen to The Getaway Plan's debut album; Other Voices, Other Rooms. You probably haven't heard of them. They were an Australian one-hit wonder band who managed to achieve a minor hit on the ARIA Charts in the form of "Where the City Meets The Sea" back in 2008. It was one of my favourite songs when I was 9 years old and it still remains one of my most listened-to songs from 2008. Despite liking that song so much, I had yet to ever check out any of their other tracks, so I thought now was a good opportunity to do so... Yes, it's emo-roots makes it sound like a product of it's time, however Other Voices, Other Rooms is genuinely a great rock record. This would have to be a strong contender for being one of the best rock albums from the second-half of the 2000s. There's a bit of everything in this album; energetic, fast-paced guitar riffs, aggressive vocals, emotive, anthemic ballads and even some down-tempo alt-rock tracks. I actually really enjoyed this. If you're after a great rock record from the Late 2000s, I'd very much suggest giving this a listen!

Finished listening to After Laughter by Paramore (2017). This was just the kind of album I was hoping their 2013 album would be, similar to Ain't It Fun. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. 5 stars!

It was The 1975's I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. Some of the songs in here were absolutely mind-blowing. Actually, they were all very creative in their own way, but Love Me, Ugh and The Sound really knocked it out of the park. However, while very creative, the middle of the album is kind of boring, and I have a feeling I'll be hitting the skip button on those very regularly in my relistens. This album deserves 4.5 stars, but since I only use whole numbers, I'm gonna have to give it 4 stars.

The first is OLest by the Japanese Pop group Charisma.com. At first I thought some of the songs on this album were kind of annoying, but on repeat listens, this is actually a really fun album! I kind of feel bad for liking something so derivative, but shame bops are the best bops tbh. 4 stars! The second is After Hours by The Weeknd. I'm not sure how to feel about this album. I like it, and I think it's good, but like a lot of 2020 musics, it's really slow paced. I don't like it as much as Starboy if I'm being honest. BUT unlike most slow-paced music, it never becomes outright boring, so that's something it has going for it. I'm torn between 4 stars and 3 stars, but I'm gonna have to go with 3 because I can't imagine myself coming back to such a slow-paced album except for a few songs. Last but not least is Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia. Unlike most 2020 music this album is actually FUN! Just pure pop goodness. It's not really breaking any new ground but it sticks to tried and trusted pop fun. 4 stars.

I finished 3 more albums in the last two weeks.
The first is Broken Machine by Nothing But Thieves. I don't know what to think of this. There's no outright bad songs in it, but it feels like a disappointment after having given 5 stars to their previous album. I'm gonna go with 4 stars. There are one or two songs that I keep coming back to.
Next I listened to 東京事変 (Tokyo Jiten or Tokyo Incident), a 2000s Japanese rock band, and their album 教育 (Kyouiku – Education, although I can't help but pronounce it Gyoyuk as in Korean lol). I loved these guys as a teenager for their singles, but I never listened to any of their albums. After having listened to this, I NOW get why every hipster at the time was into this band. This was a very experimental sound by 2004 standards! I think I need to give this a few more listens, but it is a tentative 4 stars.
And lastly I listened to Asian Kung-fu Generation's debut album Connected To You 5M (君繋ファイブエム – Kimi Tsunagi Five M). These guys were my absolute favourite band during my early teen years, and this album didn't disappoint. It's a lot of early 2000s fun. However, it doesn't sound as polished as their newer mid-late 2000s material. 4 stars for now.

Finished 8 albums in the past month and a half. I haven't given ratings to all of them, I need to give them a few more listens.
